2. Job Description

Position Title: Instrumentation Engineer
Industry: Engineering / Oil & Gas / Petrochemicals
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Khobar, Saudi Arabia

We are currently hiring an Instrumentation Engineer with a strong technical background and industry experience in instrumentation systems. The role will involve design, review, and implementation of instrumentation systems in high-risk, technically complex environments, primarily within the oil & gas or petrochemical sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop detailed instrumentation layouts, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Specify instruments, transmitters, sensors, and control devices in compliance with project standards
  • Perform engineering calculations and select appropriate instrumentation for various process conditions
  • Ensure compatibility of instruments with control systems and ensure proper installation procedures
  • Participate in reviews of design documents, safety interlocks, and process instrumentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, and electrical engineers
  • Support on-site commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems
  • Maintain compliance with industry codes and client specifications throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, bid evaluations, and procurement documentation

This is a project-based role and may require involvement in multiple phases including design, execution, testing, and documentation. Engineers with the ability to coordinate with both local and international stakeholders will find this position rewarding and impactful.


3. Eligibility Criteria

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline such as Electrical, Electronics, or Control Systems Engineering
  • Professional certifications in instrumentation systems or industrial automation will be an advantage

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in instrumentation design or engineering
  • Industry background in oil & gas, chemical, or petrochemical plants is highly preferred
  • Experience in large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects involving process instrumentation

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and API
  • Hands-on experience with engineering design software and instrumentation modeling tools
  • Understanding of PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols
  • Ability to prepare datasheets, loop diagrams, and installation specifications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills related to instrumentation failures and process controls

Professional Traits:

  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Strong communication, coordination, and technical reporting skills
  • Capable of working independently and meeting project deadlines
  • Willingness to relocate or work on-site in Khobar and associated project locations

Only candidates with direct instrumentation experience in industrial settings will be considered for this position.

Khobar, Saudi Arabia
This is a full-time, on-site engineering position within Assystem’s Saudi operations.
