As part of our ongoing expansion, we are now looking for a skilled Estimation Engineer with a background in electrical switchgear projects. 2. Job Description
We are hiring an Estimation Engineer to support our commercial and engineering teams in preparing accurate and competitive quotations for upcoming electrical switchgear projects. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Sharjah.
The Estimation Engineer will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, reviewing tender documents, and preparing detailed cost estimates for switchgear assemblies and related systems. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of UAE market conditions and relevant pricing strategies in the electrical engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review tender documents, project drawings, and technical specifications to identify scope and estimation requirements
- Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), cost sheets, and complete technical-commercial proposals for low and medium voltage switchgear systems
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to obtain competitive quotations for electrical components, panels, and accessories
- Analyze direct and indirect costs to generate accurate project estimates
- Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to validate pricing and technical feasibility
- Maintain updated pricing databases, vendor information, and historical data for reference in future estimations
- Attend client meetings (when required) to clarify estimation points or support negotiation efforts
- Participate in internal reviews of submitted tenders and provide feedback on pricing strategies
- Monitor market trends and cost fluctuations to ensure estimates are aligned with current realities
- Support post-bid activities such as value engineering, pricing revisions, and clarifications
- Ensure timely submission of bids in coordination with project timelines and deadlines
This position requires close coordination with both internal departments and external suppliers, so strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. A proactive attitude and the ability to handle multiple bids simultaneously are important for success in this role.
3. Eligibility Criteria
We are looking for professionals with relevant technical and market knowledge who can deliver reliable estimates and contribute to the company’s bidding success.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- 2 to 5 years of experience working as an Estimation Engineer within the UAE, preferably in the electrical switchgear, MEP, or industrial automation sectors
- Strong knowledge of UAE pricing structures, local suppliers, and the tendering process
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and estimation software commonly used in the switchgear industry
- Familiarity with standard LV and MV equipment such as ACBs, MCCBs, DBs, control panels, and panel board assemblies
- Sound understanding of SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), technical datasheets, and switchgear specifications
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Candidates currently on Own Visa or Spouse Visa are highly preferred
- Ability to join immediately is a significant advantage
- Attention to detail, particularly in numerical accuracy and documentation formatting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
- Willingness to learn and stay updated with industry practices and pricing trends
