Job Description – Electrical Technician

As an Electrical Technician at Quick Food Industries, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting the electrical systems of our manufacturing facility. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure uninterrupted power and safe operation of all electrical panels, control systems, and automated equipment involved in food production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of motors, switchgear, MCCs (Motor Control Centers), and production line equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults in machines, control panels, and power distribution systems.
  • Handle day-to-day breakdowns and provide timely solutions to avoid production delays.
  • Monitor and maintain control circuits, PLC input/output modules, and sensors used in automated machinery.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance work, and fault reports.
  • Ensure that all electrical components and systems comply with the company’s safety and quality standards.
  • Support in the installation and commissioning of new machinery or upgraded equipment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical technicians, production teams, and engineers to ensure smooth cross-functional communication.
  • Perform wiring, testing, and calibration for devices like temperature controllers, pressure sensors, and proximity switches.
  • Monitor energy usage and suggest improvements in equipment efficiency and power factor correction.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and help implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Respond to emergency calls related to power failure or equipment malfunction, especially during night or weekend shifts.
  • Work closely with the maintenance manager to ensure all tools, spare parts, and consumables are stocked and ready.
  • Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to perform repairs or upgrades.
  • Assist in implementing electrical safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out and arc flash awareness.

This position requires an understanding of both low-voltage and control circuit systems, familiarity with industrial standards, and the ability to work in a time-sensitive production environment. You will be expected to work hands-on and remain available during critical production hours.


Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Minimum DAE (Diploma of Associate Engineering) in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.

Experience:

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within an FMCG, pharmaceutical, food processing, or similar industrial setup.
  • Candidates with experience in Sundar Industrial Estate or similar production zones will be preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, single and three-phase circuits.
  • Practical understanding of industrial wiring, relay logic, and motor protection circuits.
  • Experience working with PLC-based systems, inverters, and servo drives is a plus.
  • Ability to diagnose faults using a multimeter, clamp meter, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, grounding systems, and load balancing techniques.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical diagrams and control schematics.
  • Knowledge of emergency power systems (generators, UPS) will be considered an asset.

Soft Skills:

  • Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with engineers and machine operators.
  • Proactive attitude toward maintenance – not just reacting to problems but preventing them.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and available for overtime if required.
  • Willingness to work in shifts or on-call duty in case of urgent plant issues.
  • Team-oriented with a mindset to learn and grow within a technical environment.
