Candidates who are passionate about electrical systems, fieldwork, and industrial automation are encouraged to apply and be part of an organization where their work directly contributes to shaping Pakistan’s industrial landscape.
Job Description
The role of Field Electrical Technician/Engineer at Atlas Controls (Pvt.) Ltd. is one of responsibility, precision, and hands-on involvement in live electrical installation environments. This position plays a critical part in delivering the company’s field-based projects across various industrial sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing all on-site electrical tasks required to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems developed by the Atlas Controls engineering team.
The primary responsibility of this role is to perform electrical installations at client sites. This includes everything from preliminary wiring to installing distribution boards (DBs), automated transfer switch (ATS) panels, power control centers (PCCs), and terminal panels. These tasks require a clear understanding of load requirements, industrial safety regulations, and the ability to work efficiently within tight timelines and site constraints.
In addition to the physical installation work, the engineer will also conduct detailed site surveys before any project is launched. This includes verifying load calculations, documenting existing electrical layouts, assessing grounding systems, and identifying any challenges or non-standard configurations that may affect installation or system performance. These surveys form the foundation for the bills of quantities (BOQs) that must be submitted and approved before procurement and installation commence.
Coordination is a key part of the job. The engineer must maintain close contact with the project team, site supervisors, and client stakeholders to ensure that all activities are aligned with the project scope, deadlines, and resource availability. This includes maintaining a clear record of installation progress, materials used, and any site-based modifications that may deviate from the original design.
Post-installation, the engineer is expected to perform commissioning activities. This includes running test cycles, verifying current flow, checking relay and fuse functionality, and ensuring that the system is performing according to the design parameters. If anomalies are discovered, the engineer must diagnose the issue and apply corrective action swiftly and safely.
Another essential component of this position is ensuring strict compliance with safety standards and regulatory codes. All electrical work must conform to the guidelines laid out by PEC, NEPRA, and the relevant safety authorities. The engineer must regularly check that earthing and conduit systems are correctly installed, and that there is no risk of overloads, short circuits, or unsafe environmental exposure.
An ongoing responsibility includes technical support. After project completion, the engineer may be called upon to assist with post-installation support. This could involve troubleshooting unexpected shutdowns, fine-tuning performance, or conducting regular inspection and maintenance routines as part of long-term service contracts.
This role requires a self-driven individual who can think on their feet, work independently in high-pressure environments, and uphold the company’s reputation for delivering quality engineering solutions. The ideal candidate should enjoy working in the field and be comfortable with extensive travel within Pakistan.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the position of Field Electrical Technician/Engineer must fulfill the following eligibility requirements to be considered for selection. These criteria ensure that the individual is capable of handling complex site-based electrical tasks independently and effectively.
First and foremost, the candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an HEC-recognized university in Pakistan. The degree should be supported by official registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), which is a mandatory requirement for professional practice within the country. Applicants who are not PEC-registered will not be considered for this position.
Secondly, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in field-based electrical projects. This experience must be in environments such as industrial plant installations, electrical power systems, automation projects, or similar domains where on-site wiring, troubleshooting, and commissioning are routine. Preference will be given to those who have previously worked in field-service roles rather than office-based electrical design positions.
Strong technical knowledge of distribution boards (DBs), ATS panels, grounding systems, and conduit installations is essential. The candidate must be able to not only install these systems but also perform the necessary safety checks, test procedures, and performance validations once installation is complete. Familiarity with industrial protection systems such as breakers, relays, and fuses will be considered an added advantage.
The ability to read and interpret technical electrical drawings is a basic requirement for this role. The candidate should be comfortable working with layout diagrams, circuit schematics, and control panel designs. Experience with CAD-based electrical drawing software will be viewed positively, although it is not mandatory.
Fieldwork demands adaptability and a willingness to travel. The ideal applicant must be physically fit and open to frequent travel, sometimes on short notice, to client locations across the country. The job may involve overnight stays and extended site visits, depending on project scale and location.
Good communication skills are vital, particularly when interacting with client-side engineers, project managers, and internal team members. The candidate must be capable of writing concise installation reports, updating task logs, and providing feedback on project progress. Fluency in both English and Urdu is necessary.
Problem-solving is an essential soft skill. The engineer should demonstrate the ability to assess unexpected electrical faults, diagnose root causes quickly, and implement effective solutions without compromising safety. This includes familiarity with using diagnostic tools, voltage meters, insulation testers, and thermal imaging devices.
Lastly, the applicant should have a genuine interest in electronics and industrial automation. While this position is not exclusively automation-focused, many of the projects at Atlas Controls are designed to integrate with PLCs, HMI systems, and SCADA platforms. A candidate with a background or interest in these areas will find additional growth opportunities within the company.
Location
The job is based in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. However, the position requires frequent travel to installation sites across Pakistan, depending on project assignments.
