Job Offering Company Introduction
Dolphin Group is a well-established industrial services company operating in the oil and gas sector, with a headquarter presence in the UAE and Europe. The company specializes in manufacturing, refurbishment, and servicing of heat exchangers, industrial cooling systems, and process equipment used in process plants and offshore facilities. Over the years, Dolphin Group has earned the trust of major energy companies across the Middle East by consistently delivering precision work, rigorous quality standards, and on‑time project execution.
Their workshop in Abu Dhabi is a central hub that handles refurbishment of core plant components such as shell and tube heat exchangers, API chillers, air‑cooled heat exchangers, and indirect fired heaters. The workshop combines modern machinery like CNC fabrication tools, high‑pressure cleaning and testing stations, inspection bays, and NDT (non‑destructive testing) capabilities. Staff includes mechanical engineers, quality control inspectors, welders, and technicians trained to meet ASME, API, and industry codes.
At Artisan level, Dolphin Group values skilled leadership to manage workshop operations, workforce coordination, materials handling, project scheduling, and quality assurance. They aim to nurture career paths in workshop and production management for professionals with mechanical engineering backgrounds and experience in heavy industrial equipment servicing.
Dolphin Group stands out in its approach to safety compliance and productivity culture. Every employee receives training on environmental standards, equipment handling, HSE protocols, and incident response. Safety is integrated into the workshop’s daily routines through toolbox talks, hazard reporting systems, and pre‑shift audits.
The broader corporate mission also includes sustainability and environmental stewardship. The company adheres to waste minimization practices, recycles metals and fluids, and ensures proper disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with UAE regulations. This helps Dolphin Group maintain both regulatory compliance and corporate responsibility.
In addition to in‑house production and refurbishment, Dolphin Group also offers turnkey solutions to clients, including site dismantling, equipment transportation, re‑assembly, and commissioning support. Their diversified portfolio spans multi‑million dollar contracts, long‑term maintenance agreements, and on‑site support for major industrial facilities.
With expansion plans underway in the Middle East, including partnerships with EPC firms and oilfield operators, Dolphin Group is now seeking a seasoned professional to lead workshop operations. The Workshop In‑Charge role is essential to maintaining delivery schedules, ensuring safety, and improving operational efficiency. The role will be based at the Musallah workshop in Abu Dhabi and will report to Operations Management.
Candidates selected for this position will join a mission‑driven, technically advanced company. They will be entrusted with leadership responsibilities, project coordination, and quality control in a high‑stakes environment. Many past workshop managers at Dolphin Group have grown into leadership roles in project management, engineering services, and operations divisions.
The role is ideal for experienced mechanical or production engineers who are passionate about workshop optimization, team leadership, and industrial standards in the oil and gas sector. If you bring expertise in heat exchanger systems, machining processes, and refurbishment best practices, Dolphin Group offers a fast‑paced and rewarding career path with technical depth and leadership opportunities.
Job description
The Workshop In‑Charge at Dolphin Group will manage all aspects of heat exchanger and industrial cooling equipment operations at the Musallah workshop in Abu Dhabi. This is a full‑time, in‑person role responsible for end‑to‑end management of servicing, refurbishment, and delivery of industrial systems while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Your primary duties include overseeing workshop production. This involves planning workflows, resource allocation, and setting targets with operations management. Workshop equipment such as CNC bending machines, welding booths, hydrotest stations, and inspection tools must function optimally and safely. You design operational sequences to reduce bottlenecks, maintain throughput, and minimize idle time.
Another key responsibility is refurbishment of heat exchanger equipment including shell and tube exchangers, plate products, chillers and industrial heaters. You coordinate disassembly, inspection, cleaning, repair, reassembly and NDE phases. You also ensure alignment with ASME, API standards, client drawings and procedures.
Production scheduling and tracking is central to the role. You monitor progress daily, adjust workflow, and supervise team attendance and performance. When issues arise—material delays, technical faults—you communicate early with procurement and engineering teams to resolve them and maintain timelines.
A major component is quality control and inspection. You ensure proper inspection handling, supervise post‑repair QA checks like pressure tests and leak detection, document results, and compile punch lists for follow‑up repairs.
Leadership and coordination duties include supervising and mentoring technicians, welders, fitters and QA staff. You conduct training sessions to improve technical skills and safety awareness. You also engage with engineering and procurement teams on technical clarifications, material needs, and workflow changes.
You manage expected project constraints such as manpower limits, downtime, or urgent delivery schedules. Effective coordination helps minimize disruptions while maintaining delivery standards. Tracking and approving daily timesheets and job progress codes ensures accurate productivity metrics and project billing.
You are responsible for preparing production forecast reports weekly and monthly, updating management on status, bottlenecks, and completion rates. These reports feed into revenue forecasting and operational planning.
Technical delivery is also partly your responsibility. You review technical drawings, weave fabrication tolerances, recommend material changes, and assist in troubleshooting unusual issues during refurbishment or testing.
Safety supervision is essential. You reinforce HSE policy, ensure workshop areas are clean and well‑organized, conduct safety audits, and ensure lock‑out/tag‑out compliance during maintenance or testing operations.
You collaborate with design and procurement teams on product documentation, traceability, and acceptance criteria, ensuring every job matches contractual quality standards.
This role demands strong technical knowledge and a methodical, results‑driven approach. You will average managing 10–25 jobs monthly with timelines and technical precision. While operating under pressure, you maintain standard procedure, ensure safety, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.

Must understand assembly process flows, fabrication tolerances, heat exchanger mechanical tolerances, alignments and torque procedures. Knowledge of API procedures, ASME codes and refurbishment standards is expected.
Leadership skills: Proven team management experience, including training, performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and skill development. Experience in leading a mixed team of welders, inspectors, and technicians.
Safety awareness: Experience in enforcing HSE and workshop safety policies including hot work permits, lock‑out/tag‑out protocols, incident investigations, and walk‑downs.
Documentation and reporting: Ability to manage job cards, traceability logs, timesheet approvals, production reports and QC documentation. Certified knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and relevant procedures preferred.
Certifications: Preferred qualifications include Quality Assurance certifications like ASNT‑VT, Welding Inspection Qualification (CSWIP or AWS), NDT certifications, or ISO/IEC 17025. Occupational Safety certification is also advantageous.
Soft skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate across departments, interact with clients and deliver technical presentations. Reliability, ethical conduct, and decision‑making ability under pressure are essential.
Key competencies: Strong analytical ability, mechanical reasoning, proficiency in workshop layout planning, resource optimization, and process documentation.
