Job Description

The Shift Engineer role at Descon Oxychem Limited is designed for individuals who thrive in high-responsibility environments where plant operations and safety compliance are a priority. This role requires a detailed understanding of chemical processes, operational systems, and effective team management.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising plant operations during the assigned shift, ensuring that all processes are carried out according to established procedures.
Maintaining compliance with operational safety standards and environmental health guidelines.
Monitoring and recording plant data, generating reports on performance, incidents, and operational challenges.
Coordinating with the Production Manager and other plant departments to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
Leading emergency response during plant incidents and organizing safety drills to keep the workforce prepared.
Providing operational instructions to DCS Supervisors and Field Operators while ensuring that all team members are properly trained.
Supporting operational improvement programs such as Management of Change (MOC) and Process Safety Management (PSM).
Reviewing and interpreting PFD and PID diagrams for effective troubleshooting and process oversight.
Implementing and enforcing Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems to maintain safe and authorized plant activities.

This role requires not only technical skills but also the ability to make decisions in real-time, guide teams, and maintain a balance between productivity and safety.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in this position must meet the following criteria:

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in chemical, process, or industrial engineering.
A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in chemical plant operations.
At least 2–3 years of experience specifically as a Shift Engineer in hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) production.
Strong knowledge of plant operations, including familiarity with PFD and PID drawings.
Hands-on experience with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems and safety compliance processes.
Ability to lead a team, provide clear instructions, and manage shift operations effectively.
A proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and problem-solving ability to address challenges quickly.
