This is a full-time position designed for professionals with experience in BMS and HVAC systems, who are looking to advance their careers in the building automation industry. 2. Job Description
We are looking for a motivated Application Engineer with a background in HVAC systems and building automation technologies to join our team in Amman. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and strong coordination skills to support the design and pre-sales stages of smart building projects.
As an Application Engineer at Smart Automation Energy, you will play a key role in preparing cost estimations, selecting system components, and supporting the sales and design teams throughout the proposal phase. You will analyze tender documents, interpret technical specifications, and ensure the proposed solutions are both cost-effective and technically sound.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing accurate and detailed cost estimations based on design documents, layouts, and tender requirements. This includes breaking down material, labor, and installation costs for each project phase.
- Reviewing and analyzing BOQs (Bill of Quantities), technical specifications, and tender documents to understand project scope and expectations.
- Selecting the appropriate BMS hardware and software platforms—such as Schneider Electric, Delta Controls, or Siemens—based on the project’s needs, client preferences, and system compatibility.
- Collaborating with internal sales teams to refine proposals and support them during client meetings or tender presentations. You will provide technical clarifications and highlight value-added features of the proposed system.
- Coordinating with design and project teams to ensure technical feasibility and alignment between the design concept and the proposed system architecture.
- Supporting pre-sales discussions with clients or contractors to clarify technical queries, explain system functionalities, and refine project specifications.
- Participating in tender clarification meetings or project kickoff sessions to ensure that all proposed components and costs are fully aligned with the customer’s expectations.
- Managing project documentation related to estimation, including drawings, datasheets, and cost summaries, and ensuring all documentation is submitted on time and professionally.
- Working across departments to maintain a smooth flow of technical data between business development, project management, and engineering.
- Continuously learning and updating product knowledge on new BMS platforms, HVAC system controls, and integration protocols to stay current with the market.
The role requires a solid understanding of HVAC principles, good command of AutoCAD, and comfort with reviewing engineering drawings. You should be confident interacting with technical teams and able to contribute meaningfully to the project design process. Your work will have a direct impact on the accuracy of bids and the overall success of project delivery.
3. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Application Engineer role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Educational Background:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is essential.
- Degrees from accredited local or international universities will be considered.
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience in a role related to BMS (Building Management Systems), HVAC controls, or building automation.
- Prior experience working on tendering or pre-sales estimation for engineering projects is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with hands-on field experience in HVAC or control systems installation may also be considered, provided they have estimation knowledge.
Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, including how different system types operate and interact with automation controls.
- Familiarity with BMS platforms (such as Schneider, Siemens, or Delta Controls) and their core functionalities, configurations, and wiring concepts.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for reading and interpreting system layouts, control panel schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, for preparing estimations and reports.
- Basic knowledge of protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, and other system integration standards is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English, with the ability to convey technical details clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work across sales, engineering, and client-facing teams.
- Analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail—especially when reviewing technical documents or compiling cost estimates.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt within a collaborative team environment.
- Time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet proposal deadlines.
Other Considerations:
- Candidates with local residency or work permit in Jordan are preferred.
- Must be comfortable working from the office in Amman, with occasional travel for client meetings if required.
- Professional appearance and behavior in business settings, including meetings with clients or contractors.
