Job Description
The Assistant Manager – Maintenance & Engineering will play a key role in overseeing and improving maintenance operations across the manufacturing facility. The position is focused on ensuring high equipment reliability, production continuity, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
The selected candidate will support the maintenance manager in implementing preventive maintenance programs, coordinating shutdowns, managing budgets, and leading technical teams to enhance plant performance.
This position requires a proactive leader who can combine engineering expertise with managerial skills to ensure smooth, cost-effective, and safe maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and executing annual maintenance strategies, plans, and budgets aligned with production goals.
- Oversee daily maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Supervise maintenance staff, ensuring skill development, safety compliance, and performance optimization.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with production teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment uptime.
- Conduct equipment performance analysis to identify and resolve recurring issues.
- Prepare maintenance cost analyses, spare part requirements, and technical reports for management review.
- Support implementation of modern maintenance practices such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards during all maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to plan plant modifications, utility upgrades, and process improvements.
- Manage third-party contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance projects.
- Monitor KPIs such as downtime, maintenance cost per unit, and mean time between failures (MTBF).
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or process industry setting.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant managerial capacity will be preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial machinery, utilities, and maintenance systems.
- Proven leadership, team management, and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in maintenance planning and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with TPM, RCM, and predictive maintenance tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, production-oriented environment.
