Job Description

The Assistant Manager – QA and Assistant Manager – Production roles at Thal Engineering are on-site positions based at the Port Qasim facility in Karachi. These roles involve overseeing daily quality assurance or production activities and ensuring that plant operations run smoothly in line with company standards.

For both roles, the selected candidates will be responsible for leading day-to-day activities on the shop floor. This includes managing workflows, monitoring performance, and ensuring that processes are followed as per defined procedures. The Assistant Managers will work closely with operators, supervisors, and engineers to maintain productivity and quality targets.

A key responsibility of the role is data analysis. Candidates will analyse production and quality data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities. Based on this analysis, they will support and implement improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing defects, and optimising resources.

Cross-functional coordination is an important part of these positions. Assistant Managers will collaborate with engineering, maintenance, planning, and quality teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and internal policies. Supporting new product development activities and ensuring the readiness of processes and documentation is also part of the role.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Preferred disciplines include Mechanical Engineering, Industrial or IM Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Materials Engineering. The academic background should support an understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems.

Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing industries such as automotive, FMCG, or similar sectors. Prior experience in quality assurance or production roles within a structured plant environment is essential.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Japanese methodologies is required. Candidates should be familiar with tools and practices such as 5S, Kaizen, Just in Time, Jidoka, and Poka Yoke. Practical exposure to implementing these concepts on the shop floor is preferred.

Applicants must have experience with quality tools and systems, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and audits under ISO and IATF standards. Understanding compliance requirements and maintaining system discipline is critical for these roles.

The ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation is required. Familiarity with AutoCAD, line balancing techniques, and cycle time analysis will be considered an advantage.
