Job Description
The Assistant Network Administrator position at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) is a highly technical role that requires expertise in planning, managing, and optimizing enterprise-level networking systems. The candidate will work closely with the Head of IT and the technical team to ensure uninterrupted network services across the entire campus.
One of the primary responsibilities will be overseeing the Network Operation Center (NOC). This involves continuous monitoring of network performance, identifying issues before they escalate, and ensuring that services remain operational round-the-clock. The NOC at BNU serves as the central hub for all network operations, making it essential that the candidate demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
The role includes Wi-Fi campus network planning and deployment, with specific emphasis on Cisco, Ruckus, and UBNT technologies. Given that students and faculty depend on stable wireless access for academic and research purposes, the candidate will need to design and maintain a seamless Wi-Fi experience. This includes ensuring coverage across classrooms, libraries, auditoriums, hostels, and administrative offices.
Management of Cisco routers and IP routing operations is another critical part of the job. This includes maintaining communication with external vendors, troubleshooting link issues, and ensuring service-level agreements are met.
Additionally, knowledge of Fortinet firewall devices will be considered an advantage. With cybersecurity becoming increasingly important, the ability to configure and manage firewalls will strengthen BNU’s defense against potential threats.
Day-to-day responsibilities will also include preparing technical documentation, maintaining network diagrams, recording incident reports, and ensuring all configurations are documented for future reference. Regular audits of the network infrastructure will be carried out to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
This role requires both independence and teamwork. The Assistant Network Administrator will work alongside system administrators, software engineers, and technical support staff to ensure all IT services remain integrated and functional.
