Hiring Alert: Engineering Research Opportunities at NSTP, NUST – Islamabad
1. Job Offering Company Introduction
The National Science & Technology Park (NSTP), situated within the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, is Pakistan’s first fully integrated science and technology park. It brings together universities, research institutions, startups, and tech companies under one ecosystem to foster innovation and high-end research.
NSTP is a hub for cutting-edge development in fields like electronics, artificial intelligence, robotics, telecommunications, and advanced materials. Backed by NUST’s strong academic foundation, the park provides access to state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced researchers, and a continuous influx of highly talented engineering graduates.
The Research and Development (R&D) unit at NSTP is currently expanding its technical team. We are focused on building advanced electronic systems that have applications in defense, communication, automation, and embedded intelligence. Our goal is to build a team of highly capable engineers who are not only skilled at implementing ideas but are also motivated to explore, experiment, and push technological boundaries.
At NSTP, we don’t believe in routine jobs. We offer a platform where engineers and researchers can engage with real-world problems, work alongside domain experts, and grow through hands-on experience. With mentorship from senior professionals, access to institutional resources, and involvement in live national projects, this is a place where young engineers can begin meaningful careers.
If you’re a recent graduate or an early-career engineer looking to work in a purpose-driven environment, NSTP is where your knowledge meets opportunity. We are now accepting applications for new team members ready to take the next step in electrical and electronics research.
2. Job Description
We are currently hiring Associate Engineers and Research Associates to join our Research & Development team at NSTP, NUST. These are full-time, on-site roles designed for engineers who are eager to explore fields such as radio frequency systems, digital hardware design, signal processing, and embedded platforms.
The focus of our work is on the development of high-performance electronic systems with real-world use cases. As part of our team, you’ll work on projects ranging from FPGA development and system simulation to algorithm testing and prototype building.
Open Positions:
- Associate Engineer
- Research Associate
Areas of Work:
- RF Engineering
- Digital Design using Verilog or VHDL
- Signal and Image Processing
- FPGA-Based System Development
- Communication Systems (digital modulation, encoding, decoding)
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design and development of hardware and software modules for electronic systems
- Contribute to algorithm development and simulation for signal processing tasks
- Assist in the design of logic modules and digital subsystems on FPGA platforms
- Support testing, debugging, and documentation of developed systems
- Collaborate with team members, mentors, and academic partners in defining system requirements
- Engage in technical reviews, R&D reporting, and hardware verification
These positions offer direct exposure to research-oriented projects with long-term development potential. Whether it’s developing a real-time signal filter or implementing an algorithm on an embedded system, the role promises a steep technical learning curve.
Each team member is expected to take ownership of their tasks, maintain high standards of technical documentation, and contribute actively to group discussions. If you’re looking for real experience beyond surface-level design work, this opportunity will give you the environment and tools to go deep.
This is not a corporate desk job. This is research and development in the true sense—project-oriented, technically demanding, and intellectually rewarding.
3. Eligibility Criteria
We are looking for individuals who are serious about engineering and capable of contributing to technical teams working on real-world problems.
Academic Background:
- Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Electronics Engineering
- Final-year projects in digital design, embedded systems, FPGA, signal processing, or RF-related topics will be viewed favorably
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL for FPGA or digital system design
- Basic understanding of digital signal processing techniques and communication systems
- Exposure to MATLAB, Python, or C for simulation and testing
- Knowledge of FPGA platforms such as Xilinx or Intel (Altera) is a plus
- Hands-on experience with tools like Vivado, Quartus, or ModelSim is desirable
Professional Traits:
- Willingness to work in a lab-based environment with hands-on tasks
- Ability to read technical datasheets, follow circuit schematics, and troubleshoot designs
- Capability to work independently on assigned tasks and report progress clearly
- Attention to detail in both hardware and software documentation
- Commitment to long-term learning and development
Experience:
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply and will be given structured training
- Experienced candidates will be considered for higher roles and compensation depending on expertise
This opportunity is designed for those looking to build technical depth. If you are not interested in learning at a deeper level, working in lab environments, or committing to a long-term role in R&D, this may not be the right fit. We’re looking for engineers who want to invest in their growth and contribute to meaningful national projects.
