We’re currently expanding our technical team and seeking a motivated Automation Engineer to support our automation and control system projects. This is a full-time remote role, offering a unique opportunity to grow with a dynamic and global engineering company.

2. Job Description

SustEL is hiring an Automation Engineer to work on a variety of projects involving industrial automation, PLC programming, and control systems integration. This role is open to recent graduates as well as engineers with up to 2 years of experience.

You will play an active role in designing, programming, and commissioning automation systems for manufacturing and process control environments. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility while still providing structured technical engagement with our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test automation logic for systems using PLC platforms such as Siemens and Allen Bradley
  • Write code using ladder logic, STL (Statement List), and SCL (Structured Control Language)
  • Assist in designing control panels and selecting appropriate hardware
  • Collaborate with other engineers to ensure timely and accurate project delivery
  • Debug automation software and troubleshoot system errors remotely
  • Support the integration of robotics, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols into control systems
  • Document control logic, testing procedures, and technical notes for future reference
  • Attend remote meetings and maintain regular progress updates with the project team

As a part of the automation team, you’ll be exposed to a wide range of real-world applications—from industrial machines to remote energy systems. This is a great opportunity for early-career engineers to learn, build, and grow.

3. Eligibility Criteria

We are looking for candidates who have the technical foundation, curiosity, and dedication to work on high-impact automation projects in a fully remote setting.

Academic Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a closely related field

Technical Skills Required:

  • Good understanding of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and sensors
  • Hands-on experience or coursework in Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Ability to write and understand ladder logic, STL, and SCL programming languages
  • Familiarity with control system components such as relays, timers, encoders, and actuators
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety standards and industrial wiring practices
  • Optional but preferred: familiarity with SCADA systems, OPC protocols, and industrial networking

Professional Qualities:

  • Strong analytical and logical thinking abilities
  • Attention to detail when debugging or troubleshooting systems
  • Comfortable working independently and managing tasks in a remote setup
  • Willingness to learn new platforms, protocols, and tools
  • Good written communication for technical reporting and documentation
  • Time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines

Experience Level:

  • 0 to 2 years of experience in automation or control systems engineering
  • Internship or academic project experience related to automation will be considered a plus

This role is well-suited for recent graduates looking to build a career in automation, or junior engineers who have some field or programming experience and are eager to develop further in a remote, supportive environment.
