Job Description
The Automation Engineer (Industrial Automation) at MC ELV Solutions will play a key role in designing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems that serve a diverse range of industrial clients. This position requires strong expertise in PLC, RTU, and SCADA systems, particularly with Schneider, Siemens, and Allen-Bradley technologies.
The selected candidate will work on real-world automation projects — from small system upgrades to complete plant-wide control systems — while collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and project managers. The role demands both technical hands-on skills and strong communication abilities to ensure the smooth execution of every project phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, RTU, and SCADA systems for industrial control and automation applications.
- Develop and configure control logic using software for Schneider, Siemens, and Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
- Program Schneider PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems using both older and newer generations of software tools.
- Perform system integration and interface different controllers, I/O modules, and field instruments for smooth data flow and process operation.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of control systems alongside clients and consultants to ensure all functions meet project specifications.
- Design and review control panels and MCC panels (Motor Control Centers) to ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards.
- Coordinate with instrumentation and electrical teams during installation and system handover.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation systems to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Prepare detailed documentation, including wiring diagrams, system architecture drawings, and user manuals.
- Ensure all control systems adhere to industry standards, quality assurance policies, and client expectations.
This role will require working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure successful project execution. The engineer will also participate in technical meetings, provide site support during commissioning, and recommend upgrades for legacy control systems to improve reliability and efficiency.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Diploma holders (DAE) with strong practical experience in automation and controls may also apply.
Experience
- Proven experience in PLC, RTU, and SCADA programming within industrial or process automation environments.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience preferred, although skilled candidates with solid project exposure will also be considered.
- Practical understanding of field instrumentation, control panel wiring, and MCC systems.
- Experience working on commissioning projects with clients and consultants in the Middle East is an advantage.
Technical Expertise
- Strong command over Schneider PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming with both legacy and modern software versions.
- Experience with Siemens PLCs and HMIs for industrial automation systems.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs and FactoryTalk View or related HMI software.
- Understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and OPC.
- Ability to design control logic, perform hardware configuration, and test systems under real plant conditions.
- Proficiency in preparing system documentation, project reports, and testing procedures.
