As part of an ongoing refinery project, the company is now hiring an experienced Discipline Engineer – Instrument Control System Design for a long-term assignment in Saudi Arabia.
Job Description
The position of Discipline Engineer – Instrument Control System Design is a senior-level engineering role responsible for the detailed design, engineering, and implementation support of instrumentation and control systems for oil & gas refinery projects.
The selected engineer will be involved in control system design activities, including DCS architecture, PLC and SCADA systems, HMI development, and integration of industrial communication protocols. The role requires hands-on expertise in Yokogawa control systems, control logic development, system configuration, and signal management.
This position is part of an EPC design engineering environment, where the engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and client representatives to ensure compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, international codes, and project specifications. The role also supports design reviews, documentation development, and coordination during execution phases.

Key Responsibilities
The Discipline Engineer will be responsible for designing and reviewing instrumentation and control systems for oil & gas refinery facilities.
Responsibilities include designing control systems using Yokogawa Centum VP, ProSafe-RS, and Plant Resource Manager, as well as associated engineering tools.
The engineer will handle PLC programming, SCADA configuration, and HMI development in line with project requirements.
The role includes working with industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP.
The engineer will manage DCS I/O assignment, marshaling cabinet wiring philosophies, and signal configuration activities.
Ensuring full compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, project specifications, and EPC design practices is a core responsibility.
The engineer will support design deliverables, coordination with EPC teams, and participate in technical reviews and documentation.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or Control System Engineering.
A minimum of 10+ years of professional experience is required.
Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience specifically within oil & gas refinery projects.
Strong hands-on experience with Yokogawa Centum VP, ProSafe-RS, and Plant Resource Manager is mandatory.
Proven expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and HMI development is required.
Practical knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, Profibus, and EtherNet/IP, is essential.
Candidates must have solid experience in EPC projects within Design Engineering environments.
Direct working experience with Saudi Aramco standards is mandatory for this role.
