2. Job Description – Civil Engineer (Hydraulics)

Be Energy is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer specializing in Hydraulics to work at its Head Office in Karachi. This is a full-time position for candidates who possess a solid background in the planning, design, and assessment of water and wastewater systems, and who can bring advanced technical solutions to complex infrastructure needs.

The engineer will be tasked with establishing and managing water and sewerage networks, selecting suitable pipeline materials, and conducting detailed planning and design activities for hydraulic systems. You will be responsible for designing layouts for water pumping stations, lift stations, and water storage tanks. The role also involves creating specifications, developing tender documentation, and producing accurate engineering drawings using industry-leading software.

This position demands practical experience with hydraulic modeling and simulation tools such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Your role will require you to assess both the quality and quantity of implemented solutions, ensuring cost-efficiency, operational feasibility, and alignment with international engineering standards including ACI, ASTM, AWWA, and NWC specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and establish water/sewerage networks, including selecting pipeline materials and design procedures.
  • Conduct and review topographical and geotechnical surveys for water infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare detailed project designs, drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Evaluate pumping systems, lift stations, and storage facilities for technical accuracy and cost-efficiency.
  • Simulate and calculate performance outcomes using tools such as WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS.
  • Create detailed project documentation including reports, cost estimates, and technical proposals.
  • Develop system layouts using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Autodesk Revit.
  • Provide guidance to draftsmen and modelers to ensure precision in design output.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance on all work.
  • Review and analyze third-party proposals, vendor plans, or design submissions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external consultants.
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and project follow-ups as needed.

This role is for engineers who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and skilled in managing multiple phases of hydraulic design. If you are looking for an engineering role that challenges your problem-solving skills while contributing to national infrastructure development, this is the opportunity to take on.

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in hydraulic system design.
  • Experience working in sectors such as petroleum infrastructure, municipal services, or industrial utility projects will be an advantage.
  • Proven track record of designing water/sewerage networks, pumping stations, and lift stations.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong command over hydraulic modeling software such as:
    • WaterGEMS
    • SewerGEMS
    • StormCAD
    • Water Hammer
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • InfraWizard
    • Autodesk Revit
  • Proficiency in project estimation, pricing of BOQs, and preparation of cost-effective project proposals.
  • Familiarity with ACI, ASTM, AWWA, and other international standards related to hydraulic infrastructure.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) in English.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation.
  • Comfortable working under deadlines and pressure.
  • Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills.

This role is designed for engineers who can combine theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring the successful delivery of hydraulic infrastructure projects within budget and timeline.
