Job Description
The Data Scientist at Outpost will serve as a full-time, dedicated member of the firm’s global hedge fund operations. The role’s primary focus is to develop and refine internal investment screening tools, data pipelines, and visualization dashboards that guide key investment strategies.
The candidate will work remotely but collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including portfolio managers, analysts, and engineers, operating under US East Coast business hours (typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time).
Key Responsibilities
- Build, refactor, and enhance front-end and UI systems for internal investment tools and screening platforms.
- Design and execute statistical tests on financial data to validate investment hypotheses and trading strategies.
- Develop and maintain data management systems, ensuring efficient and reproducible data pipelines.
- Clean, process, and integrate datasets from multiple sources (APIs, SQL, CSVs, and third-party data feeds).
- Implement automated workflows that link data sources, improve usability, and enhance performance.
- Create clear, interactive dashboards and visualizations using modern tools like Plotly, Dash, or React.
- Translate investment heuristics and quantitative ideas into testable, production-ready models.
- Document all methods, experiments, and results in a structured and communicable format.
