Job Description
VTTI Pakistan is hiring an E&I Engineer to join its dynamic team at Port Qasim, Karachi. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across the facility.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced industrial environment where precision, safety, and technical expertise are essential. The E&I Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to maintain system reliability and support project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Calibrate field instruments such as transmitters, analyzers, and control valves according to maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in control systems, PLCs, and electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the design, planning, and execution of new instrumentation and control projects.
- Prepare and review technical documentation including P&IDs, loop diagrams, and calibration reports.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Ensure all maintenance and project activities comply with VTTI’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by implementing energy efficiency and automation solutions.
- Participate in inspections, audits, and HSE meetings to ensure adherence to operational standards.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of critical spare parts for electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Collaborate with the operations team to identify areas for improvement and ensure system reliability.
Tools & Systems Exposure:
- PLCs and SCADA systems
- Control Valves, Transmitters, and Flow Meters
- Electrical Distribution Panels and Circuit Protection Systems
- Calibration Tools and Industrial Communication Protocols
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and DCS platforms
This position requires strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities, with a focus on minimizing downtime and optimizing system performance.
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Sc.) in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an HEC-recognized university.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas terminals, refineries, or industrial facilities.
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation and control systems, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to PLCs, SCADA, and industrial automation will be an added advantage.
Skills Required:
- In-depth understanding of instrumentation principles, electrical systems, and process control.
- Strong command over reading and interpreting P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and standards relevant to the Oil & Gas industry.
- Effective communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of maintenance management systems and technical documentation.
