The position involves creating detailed engineering documents, performing technical calculations, and ensuring compliance with international standards and client specifications.
The primary responsibilities include designing electrical power generation and distribution systems, including utility grid systems operating at 33/132/220kV, as well as HV, MV, and LV switchgear and motor control centers (MCC). The engineer will also develop system studies using ETAP software, performing load flow, short circuit, motor starting, transient, and relay coordination analyses.
Other tasks include preparing and reviewing single-line diagrams (SLDs), control schematics, load lists, and equipment specifications. The engineer will also develop detailed layouts for power, lighting, and earthing systems, as well as hazardous area classifications. As part of this process, the engineer will ensure all documentation is consistent, technically accurate, and in line with project requirements.
In addition to design work, the Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing data sheets, tender requisitions, and material specifications for electrical equipment, such as transformers, generators, substation components, cables, and grounding systems. The role includes conducting lighting calculations for indoor and outdoor systems using DIALux and Calculux software to ensure proper illumination levels.
The engineer will also support procurement activities by preparing technical evaluations, reviewing vendor documents, and providing recommendations based on compliance with project standards. Coordination with procurement and construction teams will be essential to ensure timely project execution.
