Job Description

The Electrical Systems Engineer – Automotive & Power Systems will be a key contributor to the development, integration, and validation of electrical architectures for both mobile and stationary platforms. This is a full-time, early-career role based in Islamabad, offering direct exposure to real-world engineering projects in the defense and energy sectors.

The selected candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team that handles everything from powertrain design to control system programming, and will participate in both prototype and production development phases.

Core Responsibilities

System Design and Architecture

  • Assist in the design of low- and medium-voltage AC/DC electrical systems, including selection of contactors, distribution blocks, and connectors.
  • Develop and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and single-line diagrams for various platforms.
  • Design and specify battery management systems (BMS), auxiliary power units (APUs), generator integration, and grounding topologies.

Automotive and Industrial Applications

  • Work on electrical systems of tactical and special-purpose vehicles, ensuring robust and safe operation under mobility stress.
  • Develop control circuits for onboard vehicle electronics, such as inverters, alternators, backup power systems, and smart energy interfaces.
  • Configure and troubleshoot CAN and LIN-based communication systems between ECUs and diagnostic interfaces.

Testing and Commissioning

  • Assist in preparing test protocols, validation checklists, and power load assessments for installed systems.
  • Participate in system-level testing during vehicle roll-out, generator startup, or panel commissioning.
  • Record test data, report anomalies, and work with design leads to resolve issues.

Compliance and Standards

  • Ensure system designs comply with international standards including:
    • IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)
    • NEC (National Electrical Code)
    • IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
    • SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)
    • ISO 26262 for functional safety in road vehicles

Collaboration and Documentation

  • Coordinate with mechanical, controls, and software teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Assist in the creation of installation manuals, service documentation, and electrical BOMs (Bills of Materials).
  • Support procurement by evaluating technical specs of electrical components and systems.

Field Support

  • Join site visits or production floor trials to troubleshoot real-time issues, measure voltage/current loads, and assess heat dissipation zones.
  • Provide post-installation technical support or participate in field upgrades based on user feedback.

This role is suited for individuals with an eye for detail, an eagerness to learn in live environments, and a collaborative mindset to work across various technical functions.
