Job Description

The Experienced Power Systems Engineer will work as part of a highly skilled engineering team, delivering technical consulting and analysis for a range of power system projects. This role provides an exciting opportunity to engage with international clients, tackle complex engineering challenges, and contribute to high-profile projects across diverse industries.

Key responsibilities include:

Technical Leadership: Provide engineering input and direction on complex power system projects for industrial and commercial clients.
Client Collaboration: Understand client needs, develop technical solutions, and ensure that project deliverables meet expectations regarding scope, budget, and timelines.
Power Systems Analysis: Conduct detailed studies such as short circuit analysis, load flow, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis using tools like ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
Protection System Design: Design unit protection settings, including transformer differential (87T), bus differential (87B), restricted earth fault, and directional protection (67).
Cable and Equipment Sizing: Perform cable sizing and related calculations in accordance with IEC 60502-2 and IEC 60364-5-52 standards.
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, ensuring clarity, precision, and actionable recommendations for clients.
Project Management: Monitor project performance, manage client expectations, and ensure quality standards are consistently met.
Mentorship: Support and mentor junior engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a learning culture.
Business Development: Participate in company workshops, internal improvement initiatives, and strategic business activities aimed at expanding Premium Power’s international portfolio.

Typical projects you will work on include:

Strategic power system analysis: redundancy, short circuit, and power flow studies.
Electrical safety analysis: arc flash and risk assessments.
Grid connection and renewable energy analysis: static & dynamic stability, harmonics, and flicker studies.
Power quality evaluation: earthing, harmonics, sag ride-through assessments.
Reliability studies and failure investigations for large industrial systems.

The role requires a mix of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and effective communication. The engineer must be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Master’s degree or additional certifications in Power Systems or Electrical Safety will be an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in power systems engineering.
- Proven experience in performing short circuit, load flow, protection coordination, and arc flash studies using professional software.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar power system analysis software.
- Knowledge of protection schemes such as differential, restricted earth fault, and directional relays.
- Strong understanding of IEC standards and other international design codes.
- Familiarity with power quality and harmonic analysis is highly desirable.
Professional Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to interpret client requirements and deliver clear, concise technical reports.
