Job Description

The Instrument Design Engineer will be responsible for handling a wide range of activities related to the design and integration of instrumentation systems for wellhead and skid projects. A central aspect of the role is the sizing and selection of control instruments and valves. This includes working with control valves, on/off valves, pressure relief valves, and flow meters to ensure precise flow control and safe operations.

The engineer will prepare and review datasheets, technical specifications, hook-up drawings, layouts, and I/O lists, ensuring that every document aligns with client requirements and international standards. In addition, they will generate material take-offs (MTOs), loop diagrams, and termination schedules to provide accurate data for project execution.

Another core responsibility is the preparation of technical requisitions for instrumentation and the evaluation of vendor bids through technical bid evaluations (TBE). This requires not only technical expertise but also strong analytical and decision-making skills to recommend the most suitable equipment.

The engineer will also ensure that all instrumentation design complies with industry-recognized standards, including ISA, IEC, API 6D/6A, ISO 5167, and ASME codes. This commitment to compliance is vital to guarantee operational safety and reliability.

Close collaboration with other engineering teams—such as piping, process, and mechanical—is a daily requirement. The Instrument Design Engineer will participate in P&ID review sessions and discussions about control philosophies, ensuring the alignment of instrumentation with the overall system design.

This role requires a professional who can balance technical precision with effective communication and cross-discipline collaboration. By taking ownership of both technical design and integration tasks, the Instrument Design Engineer will contribute significantly to INTECH’s wellhead and skid projects.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the role of Instrument Design Engineer, candidates must demonstrate relevant experience and technical expertise in instrumentation engineering, particularly within EPC or consulting environments. Previous work on oil & gas or process automation projects involving skid-based solutions will be a significant advantage.

Applicants should have proven hands-on experience in flow control instruments and valve engineering. This includes the sizing, selection, and design of control valves, on/off valves, relief valves, and flow meters. Familiarity with key standards such as ISA, IEC, API, ISO, and ASME is required, as these serve as the foundation for project compliance and quality assurance.

Educational qualifications typically include a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced training or certifications in instrumentation design will be seen as an added benefit.

Strong technical documentation skills are essential. Candidates must be capable of preparing datasheets, specifications, MTOs, and loop diagrams with accuracy and clarity. They should also have prior experience in generating technical requisitions and conducting technical bid evaluations (TBE) for vendor equipment.

The ideal candidate will have strong collaboration and communication skills, as the role requires daily interaction with process, piping, and mechanical engineers. Engineers who can work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams while managing their responsibilities independently are best suited for this role.

Additionally, candidates must be detail-oriented and capable of ensuring strict compliance with safety, quality, and project standards. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to handle complex design challenges will further strengthen their suitability for this role.

This opportunity is best suited for professionals who are motivated to contribute to critical oil & gas applications and who are eager to advance their expertise within a global engineering company.
