Job Description

The position of Junior Avionics & Control Systems Engineer / Technician at ZGI Robotics is an exciting opportunity for early-career engineers who are passionate about UAVs, embedded systems, and flight control technologies. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi, where you will work closely with the company’s engineering teams to design, develop, and test unmanned aerial systems.

As a member of the UAV development team, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of avionics systems — the electronic systems used in aircraft and UAVs for communication, navigation, and control. Your responsibilities will involve working on flight control algorithms, integrating hardware components, and conducting system testing to ensure performance stability and safety.

You will be collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to create reliable flight control architectures that enable drones to perform with accuracy and precision. From wiring and assembling circuits to coding and analyzing flight data, your daily work will expose you to the complete UAV engineering cycle. This role emphasizes hands-on learning and experimentation, giving you the chance to apply theoretical concepts in real engineering environments.

Key duties will include supporting senior engineers in developing and testing flight control systems, designing circuit layouts for sensor integration, and ensuring that control algorithms operate effectively during flight. You will help in tuning controllers such as PID and LQR, which are essential for stabilization and navigation performance. You will also participate in hardware-in-the-loop simulations, flight controller setup, and calibration processes.

Part of your work will involve system troubleshooting — identifying performance bottlenecks, analyzing sensor data, and ensuring that the UAV’s avionics system is both responsive and reliable. You will be trained to use tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters to test circuits and measure electrical signals. Additionally, you will work with embedded communication protocols such as UART, I2C, and CAN to ensure smooth data exchange between sensors, controllers, and actuators.

The role also includes contributing to software development and documentation. You may work on writing simple scripts in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++ to test control logic, analyze flight data, or visualize performance metrics. Clear documentation of test results and design changes will be a regular part of your work to ensure traceability and continuous improvement.

Beyond the technical side, ZGI Robotics places great importance on teamwork and interdisciplinary learning. You will attend design discussions, project meetings, and flight test reviews, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers who specialize in aerodynamics, control systems, and embedded hardware.

This position is ideal for individuals who are naturally curious, analytical, and driven to learn. Whether you are a recent graduate or an early-career engineer, the role offers a clear growth path toward becoming a full-fledged control systems or avionics engineer. ZGI Robotics provides the tools, mentorship, and real-world exposure necessary for developing a deep understanding of UAV technologies and flight systems.

In addition to the technical and learning opportunities, you’ll also contribute to the company’s broader mission — to develop UAVs that are robust, efficient, and capable of addressing complex challenges in industrial, agricultural, and defense sectors. Every project you work on will add value to this mission and to the growth of the UAV ecosystem in Pakistan.

With a monthly salary range between PKR 50,000 and 75,000, the role offers a fair compensation package along with access to a collaborative, innovation-driven workplace.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the position of Junior Avionics & Control Systems Engineer / Technician at ZGI Robotics, candidates must have a strong educational foundation and a genuine interest in UAV technology. Applicants should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in Avionics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Aerospace, or a closely related engineering field. Final-year students with a strong academic record and relevant project experience may also be considered.

Candidates must possess a basic understanding of flight dynamics and control systems, as this knowledge forms the backbone of UAV operation and design. Familiarity with control theory concepts such as Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) is highly desirable. The ability to model and analyze system responses using these control techniques will be advantageous during flight tuning and testing phases.

A foundational understanding of embedded systems is essential. Candidates should be comfortable with the architecture and working of microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators used in UAV platforms. Knowledge of serial communication protocols like UART, I2C, and CAN will be particularly valuable for integrating multiple avionics modules and ensuring reliable data flow within the UAV’s control network.

Hands-on experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters is another important requirement. The role involves regular hardware testing and troubleshooting, so applicants should demonstrate confidence in using these tools to diagnose and resolve electronic and communication issues.

Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, or Python will strengthen a candidate’s application. The ability to work with simulation tools like MATLAB or Simulink is also beneficial, especially for modeling flight dynamics and control loops. Candidates who have previously engaged with open-source flight control platforms such as PX4, ArduPilot, or Betaflight will have an advantage, as these systems form the basis of many UAV architectures.

Soft skills play a crucial role as well. ZGI Robotics seeks individuals who are motivated, disciplined, and capable of working in a collaborative engineering environment. The company values curiosity and problem-solving, encouraging engineers to experiment, analyze, and improve. Effective communication skills — both written and verbal — are essential for documentation, team discussions, and reporting test results.

Prior experience in drone building, flight testing, or UAV operation will be considered a plus, though it is not mandatory. Even hobbyist-level experience in assembling or flying drones can demonstrate a candidate’s passion and practical knowledge. Similarly, familiarity with power electronics, PCB design, or motor control systems will be beneficial but not required.

Above all, the company is looking for candidates with a genuine enthusiasm for UAVs and robotics. Those who enjoy tinkering, experimenting, and learning from trial and error will thrive in this environment. ZGI Robotics provides mentorship and training, but the candidate’s curiosity and willingness to learn will determine their long-term success.

This opportunity is particularly suited to those seeking to begin a career in advanced control systems, flight engineering, or embedded robotics. The learning exposure at ZGI Robotics will enable candidates to grow from foundational technical tasks to designing and implementing complex UAV control architectures in the future.
