Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of bus workshop operations. This position is central to managing day-to-day maintenance, implementing preventive measures, supervising technicians, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role requires not only technical expertise in diagnosing faults and implementing repairs but also leadership skills to manage people, processes, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Fault Diagnosis and Repair Oversight
Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues in buses. Recommend and implement effective solutions to restore functionality.
Recurring Fault Analysis
Analyze patterns of recurring faults and propose engineering-based improvements that enhance vehicle reliability and reduce future breakdowns.
Workshop Management
Oversee workshop operations, ensuring technicians, electricians, and mechanics perform their duties efficiently and safely.
Team Supervision
Lead, guide, and supervise maintenance staff, including mechanics, electricians, and technicians during daily repair and maintenance tasks.
Inventory Control
Monitor spare parts and tools inventory, coordinate with procurement to ensure availability of necessary materials, and manage resources efficiently.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all buses meet Vehicle Inspection & Certification System (VICS) standards as well as safety and roadworthiness regulations.
Preventive Maintenance
Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle downtime and extend the service life of the fleet.
Performance Reporting
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, prepare reports, and present data-driven insights to improve operations.

This role is designed for professionals who can balance technical know-how with managerial responsibilities. The Maintenance Engineer will serve as the bridge between the workforce on the ground and the management team, ensuring that quality, safety, and efficiency are consistently achieved.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Maintenance Engineer position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Experience: At least 1 year of experience in an automotive or bus workshop environment, ideally in a supervisory or engineering capacity.
Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diagnostic tools, maintenance software, and engineering best practices related to bus and heavy vehicle repair.
