Job Description
The Manager Electrical & Instrument (E&I) will be responsible for leading and executing all maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization activities within the polyester manufacturing plant. The individual will ensure the smooth operation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment to achieve maximum plant uptime and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and Supervision: Develop, implement, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for electrical and instrumentation systems. Ensure that all maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and within planned timeframes.
- Equipment Availability: Maximize equipment uptime by coordinating predictive maintenance activities, monitoring performance trends, and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- System Improvements: Conduct detailed analysis of maintenance data, including equipment history and failure reports, to recommend and implement improvements in system reliability and performance.
- Documentation: Establish and maintain an organized documentation system to ensure that all maintenance records, drawings, and inspection reports are accurately archived and easily retrievable.
- Failure Analysis: Lead root-cause investigations for major breakdowns, identifying repetitive failure patterns and developing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Technical Expertise: Troubleshoot and maintain Siemens Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The candidate must possess the capability to understand and modify existing PLC logic to optimize plant operations.
- Team Development: Develop and conduct technical training sessions, case studies, and skill enhancement modules for the E&I staff. Encourage continuous learning and ensure that all team members are well-versed in modern maintenance and automation practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, mechanical, and process departments to ensure that maintenance activities support overall production goals. Provide technical guidance in shutdown planning and major overhauls.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all internal and external safety, environmental, and quality standards. Promote a strong safety culture among team members and contractors.
This position demands strong analytical ability, leadership, and communication skills. The Manager will also contribute to strategic decision-making regarding equipment upgrades, energy optimization, and future plant expansion projects.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following educational and professional requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in the maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems within a chemical, petrochemical, or fertilizer plant. Candidates with experience in process industries or continuous manufacturing environments will be preferred.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong understanding of Siemens VFDs, PLC programming, and industrial automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and control logic diagrams.
- Hands-on knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and documentation practices.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinate multiple activities, and ensure that maintenance tasks are executed to the highest standards.
- Analytical Approach: Proven ability to conduct failure analysis, develop preventive maintenance strategies, and improve equipment reliability through data-driven decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to report findings clearly, prepare technical reports, and collaborate effectively across departments.
