Over the years, OBS Pharma (Private) Limited has transformed into a reputable pharmaceutical enterprise that invests in modern facilities, experienced teams, and well-structured systems aligned with local and global compliance standards. With a continued emphasis on controlled and well-governed operations, the company has maintained its position as a dependable manufacturer that operates with precision, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility toward healthcare outcomes.

The pharmaceutical sector requires unwavering dedication to safety, validation, compliance, and documentation. OBS Pharma (Private) Limited has built its identity around these foundational principles. The company operates through a carefully controlled environment, where every department—from production to engineering—contributes to maintaining high-quality product standards. The Engineering Department, in particular, plays a central role by ensuring that all utilities, equipment, and technical operations supporting manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and reliably.

Pharmaceutical manufacturing heavily depends on a combination of aseptic environments, controlled processing conditions, energy-efficient utilities, well-maintained HVAC systems, and validated equipment. For OBS Pharma (Private) Limited, engineering excellence is not just a technical requirement but an essential part of compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and international regulatory standards. The company has continuously invested in improving its facility infrastructure and process capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to meeting stringent expectations set by regulatory bodies such as the FDA, EMA, and other global health authorities.

In addition to maintaining rigorous internal controls, OBS Pharma (Private) Limited works with multiple external partners, vendors, and contractors to support facility upgrades, equipment installation, and routine maintenance activities. These partnerships are governed by the company’s internal engineering standards and regulatory procedures, ensuring that every installed system or executed upgrade aligns with approved user requirements, qualification stages, calibration schedules, and safety protocols. The combination of strong internal management and reliable external coordination ensures the company’s long-term operational integrity.

The company’s vision centers on growth, improvement, and the incorporation of modern engineering technologies into its production landscape. Whether it is the expansion of manufacturing spaces, the installation of new utilities, or the commissioning of technologically advanced process units, OBS Pharma (Private) Limited ensures that every engineering decision is made through a structured, thoroughly assessed, and compliance-oriented approach. This not only strengthens current operations but also prepares the organization for upcoming challenges in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

As regulatory benchmarks evolve, OBS Pharma (Private) Limited remains committed to adopting best practices for engineering excellence, including operational efficiency, energy conservation, sustainable maintenance practices, adherence to environmental protection guidelines, and continuous improvement methodologies. The Manager Engineering role is a vital position within this environment. The individual stepping into this role will have responsibility over the technical backbone of the facility, ensuring that all engineering initiatives, maintenance schedules, system qualifications, and facility operations align with the expectations of pharma-grade production.

The company values professionals who demonstrate responsibility, structured thinking, leadership capability, and practical experience in pharmaceutical engineering. It recognizes that engineering teams form the foundation for safe product handling, controlled manufacturing environments, and equipment reliability. With a long-standing presence in Lahore and a persistent commitment to healthcare manufacturing, OBS Pharma (Private) Limited provides an environment where the Manager Engineering role carries both influence and opportunity. This is a position that directly impacts manufacturing continuity, operational stability, safety compliance, and long-term facility performance.

Job Description

The Manager Engineering at OBS Pharma (Private) Limited will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, qualification, and performance of all facility equipment, utility systems, and process machinery throughout their entire lifecycle. This is a leadership position that requires hands-on oversight combined with a thorough understanding of the technical, regulatory, and operational needs of a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

The role involves managing preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure that equipment, utilities, and facilities remain in optimal condition. This includes planning maintenance schedules, ensuring their timely execution, reviewing maintenance records, and coordinating with mechanical and electrical teams to address issues before they disrupt production. A strong understanding of how these schedules affect aseptic operations, clean-room conditions, and validated processes is essential.

The Manager Engineering will work closely with production, quality assurance, validation, and regulatory compliance teams to ensure that all engineering activities meet GMP standards and align with FDA, EMA, and other international regulatory requirements. This includes understanding operational parameters, environmental controls, HVAC systems, calibration needs, documentation practices, and engineering change management processes. Given the sensitivity of pharmaceutical operations, the manager must ensure strict adherence to compliance requirements, including those governing aseptic environments, BMS monitoring, clean utilities, and qualified process equipment.

The role further extends into capital project leadership. The manager will oversee facility expansion projects, equipment installations, major repairs, and technical upgrades. This requires expertise in drafting and reviewing User Requirement Specifications (URS), managing Design Qualification (DQ), supervising Installation Qualification (IQ), ensuring proper execution of Operational Qualification (OQ), and validating system performance through Performance Qualification (PQ). Each stage must be documented clearly and executed in accordance with GMP and internal SOPs.

Contractor and vendor management forms a significant part of the position. The Manager Engineering will coordinate with external service providers involved in equipment installation, specialized repairs, calibration services, and facility improvements. This requires proper evaluation of vendor capabilities, confirmation of technical specifications, review of service documentation, and validation of work done to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations.

The manager will also be responsible for developing asset care strategies. This includes reviewing equipment performance, identifying recurring problems, evaluating failure rates, and implementing improvement plans that enhance reliability and performance. Asset care is central to preventing downtime, reducing operational risks, and ensuring that production targets are consistently met.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the role demands a strong focus on safety and sustainability. The Manager Engineering must ensure that all utilities, equipment, and engineering activities comply with HSE guidelines. This includes aligning operations with EPA and NEQS requirements, ensuring safe waste management practices, monitoring energy efficiency programs, and driving initiatives that support environmental sustainability. These responsibilities require a proactive approach toward improving safety culture within the engineering team and ensuring compliance audits are handled with discipline and preparedness.

This role demands consistent leadership, communication, and coordination across departments. The manager must be able to guide teams, assign responsibilities, resolve conflicts, and maintain disciplined processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to handle high-pressure situations, make informed decisions, maintain thorough documentation, and ensure the engineering department functions as a dependable, compliance-oriented partner to production and quality units.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Manager Engineering position must hold either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. The requirement reflects the technical nature of the role, which demands a solid academic foundation in mechanical systems, utilities, industrial operations, and process engineering. This educational background prepares the candidate to understand engineering principles, maintenance strategies, and technical specifications associated with pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

Applicants must have 8 to 12 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry. Importantly, at least 3 to 5 years of this experience must be in the same or closely related managerial position. Pharmaceutical engineering differs significantly from other industrial sectors due to its strict regulatory structure, validated environment, and dependency on controlled manufacturing processes. This level of experience ensures that the candidate is already familiar with GMP, engineering documentation, qualification procedures, and regulatory expectations.

The ideal candidate should have experience in managing utilities, HVAC systems, clean-room environments, equipment calibration, and the qualifications cycle including URS, DQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ. Knowledge of BMS, controlled environments, aseptic area processing, facility operations, and documentation standards is essential. Experience with capital projects, engineering upgrades, facility expansion, and installation supervision is also required.

The role also demands individuals who demonstrate leadership skills, effective communication abilities, team coordination experience, and a disciplined approach to documentation. Candidates should have experience working with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, production, regulatory affairs, procurement, and safety departments.

A strong understanding of HSE requirements, EPA guidelines, NEQS standards, and sustainability practices is crucial. The engineering leader must be able to enforce safety standards, evaluate risks, manage audits, and ensure that the facility meets environmental and safety regulations.

A deep awareness of engineering challenges within a pharmaceutical environment, combined with the ability to implement continuous improvement strategies, will set strong candidates apart. The position requires individuals who are organized, methodical, and able to balance operational needs with compliance obligations.
