The company is seeking an experienced Manager – HVAC to join its Karachi operations. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the performance of HVAC systems that are vital to production quality, employee safety, and equipment reliability. The selected candidate will oversee daily operations, preventive and corrective maintenance, energy audits, and compliance with internationally recognized standards.

As such, the Manager – HVAC will be responsible for ensuring that all HVAC systems — including absorption and centrifugal chillers, AHUs, cooling towers, dehumidifiers, and exhaust systems — are running efficiently and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Job Description
The Manager – HVAC at ATCO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of HVAC system operations, maintenance, and energy management at client facilities. Reporting directly to the senior management team, the manager ensures that HVAC systems perform optimally, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain absorption and centrifugal chillers, AHUs, cooling towers, LAFs, dehumidifiers, and exhaust systems to ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HVAC operations, aligned with PIC/S, WHO, and ISPE guidelines.
- Manage and lead HVAC staff, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing technical guidance.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of HVAC machinery, spares, and equipment, coordinating procurement and preventive replacement planning.
- Conduct energy audits and maintenance assessments to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
- Monitor operational standards to ensure efficient performance, minimal downtime, and optimal energy usage.
- Support the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team by ensuring timely closure of safety observations and compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist management in techno-commercial evaluations for utility upgrades, facility improvements, and HVAC-related capital projects.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and compliance documentation for internal review and audits.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, production, and quality, to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
This role requires both technical expertise and strong leadership skills, as the manager will oversee a team of engineers and technicians while ensuring the facility operates at the highest performance standards. The manager will also be responsible for integrating new technologies, energy-efficient systems, and process improvements to support client objectives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: BE or B.Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience: 5–7 years of relevant experience in HVAC system operations and maintenance, preferably within regulated manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments.
- Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of chillers (absorption and centrifugal), AHUs, cooling towers, dehumidifiers, and exhaust systems.
- Ability to operate and maintain HVAC systems efficiently.
- Experience in energy efficiency practices, maintenance planning, and SOP implementation.
- Knowledge of PIC/S, WHO, and ISPE regulatory guidelines.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead a team of HVAC engineers and technicians.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure deadlines are met.
- Additional Requirements:
- Good command of maintenance documentation, audit practices, and reporting.
- Strong analytical mindset to assess performance, conduct audits, and implement improvements.
- Ability to handle emergency situations and troubleshoot complex HVAC issues.
