Job Description
The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the commissioning process of mechanical systems for a large-scale Iron Ore Pelletizing Plant Project. This position requires a blend of technical knowledge, practical site experience, and coordination capabilities to ensure that mechanical equipment and systems are fully functional, safe, and compliant with project specifications before handover.
The primary responsibilities of the Mechanical Commissioning Engineer include:
- Supervising and coordinating all activities related to the mechanical commissioning of plant equipment and systems.
- Ensuring that all installed machinery, piping, and auxiliary systems meet design, operational, and safety standards.
- Conducting inspections, mechanical testing, and performance verification of mechanical components.
- Collaborating with project engineers, contractors, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during commissioning.
- Preparing detailed commissioning reports and documentation, including test results, operational data, and equipment performance summaries.
- Managing pre-commissioning and startup activities, including flushing, pressure testing, alignment, vibration analysis, and mechanical balancing.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical data sheets to ensure correct installation and operation.
- Coordinating with the health and safety team to implement risk control measures during commissioning.
- Ensuring compliance with company and client HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) procedures at all times.
- Participating in project meetings, progress reviews, and client inspections as required.
The engineer must ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, with a focus on quality and safety. Attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication are essential in this role.
This position involves close collaboration with electrical, instrumentation, and control system engineers. The commissioning process is highly integrated, and therefore the engineer must be able to coordinate across departments to ensure synchronization of mechanical systems with automation and control systems.
The ideal candidate will also contribute to the development of commissioning checklists, risk assessments, and maintenance schedules to support post-handover operations. A working knowledge of industrial safety protocols, mechanical integrity testing, and plant startup procedures is critical.
In addition to the technical tasks, the role involves mentoring junior engineers, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining accurate project documentation for final project closure.
Working as a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer at CSS Middle East provides exposure to world-class engineering practices and an opportunity to be part of a global-scale industrial development project. The company expects professionalism, precision, and a deep understanding of mechanical systems from its engineers.
