As part of our growth journey, we are actively seeking an OEM Automation Engineer to join our expanding operations in Munster, Ireland. This is a full-time, mid-senior level position offering a unique opportunity to work on advanced automation platforms and make a direct impact on client manufacturing systems worldwide.
2. Job Description
We are looking for a OEM Automation Engineer to join our engineering team, focusing on the design, development, and deployment of automation systems for OEM platforms. This role is highly collaborative, involving close interaction with both our internal teams and external OEM clients.
You will be responsible for full-cycle project execution, from concept design through programming, implementation, testing, and on-site commissioning. Your main goal is to deliver robust, innovative, and scalable automation solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with OEM partners and internal stakeholders to gather project requirements and develop customized automation strategies
- Design and configure PLC, DCS, and HMI systems using platforms such as Rockwell, DeltaV, Siemens, and similar
- Develop control system architecture diagrams, IO lists, and network communication protocols
- Program and test motion control, process control, and sequencing logic
- Manage and lead automation projects from the design phase through factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning
- Integrate new automation systems into existing plant architecture, ensuring minimal disruption and seamless connectivity
- Optimize control systems for reliability, performance, and scalability using feedback from system testing and production performance
- Maintain accurate documentation including URS, FDS, test plans, and validation reports
- Provide training to internal teams and end-users on system operation and troubleshooting
- Stay updated on emerging automation technologies, standards, and regulatory practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during project execution or after installation
This role may require occasional travel for on-site support and commissioning at client facilities.
Tools and Technologies You’ll Work With:
- PLC platforms: Siemens S7, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi
- DCS platforms: Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion
- HMI/SCADA: Wonderware, FactoryTalk, WinCC
- Communication protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP
- Motion Control & Robotics: Servo motors, actuators, vision systems
- IIoT/Edge Devices and Industrial Networking
You will have the opportunity to work across industries including pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, discrete manufacturing, and packaging automation.
3. Eligibility Criteria
We’re looking for a capable and motivated engineer who is ready to contribute to complex automation projects and grow within a dynamic environment.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation engineering
- Preferably experienced in OEM environments or system integrator companies
- Demonstrated ability to program and configure PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Experience with DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, or similar automation platforms is required
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of industrial control systems, control loops, and machine safety standards
- Familiarity with robotic integration, vision systems, or IIoT-based systems is a strong plus
- Proficient in reading and developing P&IDs, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Hands-on experience in project documentation including URS, FDS, and validation protocols
- Ability to handle client interactions, requirements gathering, and technical documentation
Personal Qualities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and cross-team collaboration
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to work independently
- Project management awareness and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project commissioning and support
