Job Offering Company Introduction
Talos Automation is an international automation recruitment and workforce solutions company that has built a strong reputation in the global industrial automation sector. Founded in 2013 and operating as part of the STR Group, Talos Automation specialises in providing highly skilled automation professionals to leading manufacturing and engineering organisations across Europe and the United States. Headquartered in Troy, Michigan, the company has successfully supported clients in some of the most demanding and technically complex industries, including automotive manufacturing, material handling, life sciences, and process automation.
Over the past decade, Talos Automation has developed deep expertise in automation staffing, focusing on PLC programmers, controls engineers, robotics specialists, electrical engineers, and automation commissioning professionals. The company’s recruitment model is built around understanding real shop-floor challenges, production pressures, and the skills required to support high-volume manufacturing operations. Rather than acting as a simple recruitment intermediary, Talos Automation works closely with both clients and contractors to ensure project continuity, technical fit, and long-term professional relationships.
One of the key strengths of Talos Automation is its international delivery capability. The company regularly deploys automation specialists to production plants and project sites across Spain, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and other industrial hubs. This international exposure allows contractors placed by Talos Automation to work in diverse cultural and technical environments while gaining hands-on experience with world-class manufacturing systems.
For this contract opportunity, Talos Automation is supporting Gestamp, a globally recognised automotive components manufacturer. Gestamp is known for its advanced metal forming, welding, and assembly technologies used by major automotive brands worldwide. Gestamp’s production facilities operate at high speed and require reliable, experienced PLC programmers who can support ongoing production while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
By partnering with industry leaders like Gestamp, Talos Automation provides automation professionals with access to challenging short-term and long-term assignments that strengthen technical skills, international work exposure, and career growth. This contract role in Zaragoza, Spain, reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supplying experienced automation talent where precision, speed, and reliability are critical.
Job Description
Talos Automation is currently hiring an experienced PLC Programmer for a short-term production support contract at Gestamp’s manufacturing facility in Zaragoza, Spain. This role is designed for professionals who are comfortable working directly on active production lines within the automotive manufacturing environment and who can deliver reliable PLC support under tight operational timelines.
The PLC Programmer will be responsible for providing hands-on production support, troubleshooting automation issues, and maintaining system stability across Gestamp’s manufacturing lines. The role requires deep familiarity with Siemens PLC systems using TIA Portal and the ability to understand, modify, andoptimisee existing automation programs written according to Gestamp standards. Since this is a live production environment, the ability to work methodically under pressure is essential.
A significant part of the role involves working with STL programming. The PLC Programmer will analyse existing STL code, diagnose faults, and apply structured changes without disrupting production. This requires not only strong technical knowledge but also a disciplined approach to documentation, testing, and validation before changes are released onto the production floor.
The position involves close collaboration with local maintenance teams, production engineers, and automation specialists. The PLC Programmer will be expected to communicate clearly in both Spanish and English, ensuring technical issues are understood, corrective actions are aligned, and production downtime is minimised. Effective communication is critical when coordinating between shifts, departments, and engineering teams.
The contract runs from January 26th to March 31st, 2026, covering a critical operational period at the Gestamp plant. During this time, the PLC Programmer will support ongoing production, assist with fault analysis, and ensure that automation systems remain stable and compliant with Gestamp’s internal standards. The role may include shift-based or extended working hours depending on production demands.
In addition to troubleshooting, the PLC Programmer may be involved in fine-tuning automation logic, improving machine reliability, and assisting with system documentation. While this is not a greenfield development role, it requires strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work within established automation frameworks.
This contract is ideal for experienced PLC professionals who enjoy working in automotive manufacturing environments and are comfortable delivering short-term, high-impact technical support. The position provides valuable exposure to Gestamp production systems while offering international work experience in Spain.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the PLC Programmer – Contract (Gestamp, Spain) position must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for this role.
Applicants must have strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs, particularly using TIA Portal in industrial production environments. Experience must include real-world troubleshooting, code modification, and production support rather than only simulation or classroom-based programming.
A solid understanding of STL programming is mandatory. The role requires candidates who can read, interpret, and safely modify STL code used in complex manufacturing systems. Candidates without STL experience will not be suitable for this position due to the technical requirements of Gestamp’s automation standards.
Previous experience working with Gestamp standard systems is highly preferred and may be mandatory depending on project needs. This includes familiarity with Gestamp automation structures, naming conventions, safety logic, and production workflows commonly used in automotive manufacturing plants.
Fluency in both Spanish and English is required. The PLC Programmer will communicate directly with local production teams, maintenance staff, and international engineering stakeholders. Clear verbal and written communication in both languages is essential for safe and effective coordination.
Candidates must have the legal right to work in Spain or be eligible to work onsite in Spain for the duration of the contract. This includes holding a valid work authorisation, residency permits, or an appropriate visa status. Talos Automation expects candidates to be able to work onsite without legal or administrative delays.
Applicants should have prior experience working in automotive manufacturing environments, particularly high-volume or high-speed production lines. Familiarity with production support roles, downtime reduction, and rapid fault resolution is critical.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. The role requires independent decision-making while respecting plant safety rules, quality standards, and established automation procedures.
Candidates should be comfortable working on short-term contracts, adapting quickly to new environments, and integrating with existing technical teams. A professional approach to documentation, change management, and production safety is expected at all times.
