Job Description

MAK Power is seeking Power System Engineers to join their Karachi office. This role is designed for engineers who are passionate about power systems, substations, and renewable energy projects. The position offers exposure to both consultancy services and practical engineering applications, providing a comprehensive experience in power system design and analysis.

The primary responsibility of the Power System Engineer is to assist in the design, analysis, and commissioning of substations and electrical power systems. This includes performing power system studies such as load flow analysis, short circuit studies, protection coordination, and harmonic analysis. Engineers will also be responsible for reviewing project specifications, conducting technical calculations, and preparing detailed reports for client review.

In addition to analytical work, engineers will support substation design projects, including layout planning, equipment specification, and integration of electrical systems. Collaboration with senior engineers and project managers will ensure that designs meet client requirements and comply with national and international standards.

Engineers will also engage in renewable energy projects, evaluating system integration, interconnection requirements, and grid stability considerations. This provides a unique opportunity to work on innovative solutions that enhance the sustainability and efficiency of power infrastructure.

The role requires strong documentation skills. Engineers will prepare technical reports, proposals, drawings, and operational manuals. Accurate documentation ensures clarity for clients, supports commissioning activities, and serves as a reference for maintenance and future project upgrades.

On-site visits and inspections may also be part of the role. Engineers may support installation, testing, and commissioning activities at substations or renewable energy plants, ensuring that systems are implemented correctly and operate safely. Field experience complements theoretical knowledge and provides practical insights into system performance.

Problem-solving and troubleshooting are essential components of the position. Engineers will identify potential issues, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions. This includes resolving technical challenges during project execution, addressing client queries, and improving overall system reliability.

Effective communication is critical in this role. Engineers will liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. The ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team is vital.

The role at MAK Power offers exposure to cutting-edge tools and software used in power system analysis, including simulation programs, CAD tools, and data management systems. Engineers will gain experience working with modern technologies and methodologies, enhancing their professional skill set.

Overall, this position provides a balance of technical challenges, practical experience, and professional growth opportunities. Engineers will contribute directly to projects that impact the reliability and efficiency of power systems while developing expertise in both consultancy and field operations.
