Job Description

The Process Engineer (Syrup Room) will be responsible for managing and optimizing the syrup preparation processes within the beverage production facility. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical ability, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product quality and safety.

Key responsibilities include:

Syrup Preparation Management: Oversee the syrup room operations, including ingredient mixing, filtration, carbonation, and transfer processes. Ensure all formulations follow PepsiCo’s global quality standards and recipes.
Process Control and Optimization: Monitor process parameters such as temperature, pressure, concentration, and flow rates. Use process data to optimize efficiency and minimize wastage.
Quality Assurance Support: Collaborate with the QA department to ensure syrup quality meets the required standards before proceeding to filling and packaging. Conduct periodic sampling, lab testing, and process audits.
Preventive Maintenance: Coordinate with the maintenance team to plan preventive maintenance schedules for syrup room machinery such as mixers, pumps, and tanks. Ensure minimal downtime and consistent production flow.
Data Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production batches, ingredients, and process parameters. Prepare daily and monthly reports on production performance and deviations.
Safety and Hygiene Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and food-grade hygiene protocols in all syrup room activities. Conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with internal and external audits.
Continuous Improvement: Identify process inefficiencies and suggest technical improvements to enhance yield, reduce energy consumption, and ensure product consistency.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure seamless coordination between syrup preparation and other production departments.
Training and Mentorship: Support junior staff and operators through technical guidance, skill development sessions, and on-the-job training to build operational competence.

The Process Engineer is expected to lead by example, maintaining professionalism and discipline while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and innovation.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following educational and professional requirements to qualify for this role:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Process Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from a recognized university.
Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in process operations within the beverage, food, or FMCG industry, preferably in syrup manufacturing, bottling, or related production units.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of process equipment such as mixers, pasteurizers, pumps, valves, and control systems.
- Familiarity with process automation systems (PLC/SCADA) and standard operating procedures for food-grade environments.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), SOPs, and process flow diagrams.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and ISO quality systems.
Analytical Skills: Capable of identifying process deviations, performing root-cause analysis, and proposing corrective measures.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and management reports.
