Job Description

The Process Operator at IDCMPS will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and maintaining the process systems and equipment of an offshore production unit. The role requires a deep understanding of process control principles, chemical operations, safety procedures, and teamwork in a dynamic offshore environment.

The daily routine of a Process Operator involves the inspection, operation, and optimization of systems such as pumps, compressors, separators, heat exchangers, and control valves. The candidate must be capable of detecting irregularities, initiating corrective actions, and ensuring smooth process continuity under supervision or independently when required.

A major part of the job involves continuous monitoring of process parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and chemical composition. Operators must ensure that these parameters remain within acceptable limits and report any deviation immediately. Detailed logging and data recording are vital for process traceability and performance evaluation.

The selected candidate will work under the supervision of senior engineers and shift supervisors, collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure all equipment operates efficiently. They will participate in planned shutdowns, equipment overhauls, and start-up operations when necessary.

Safety is the foundation of this role. The Process Operator must adhere to all safety and environmental policies, report hazards, and take part in safety meetings and drills. Understanding and complying with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines is mandatory at every level of operation.

The offshore work schedule requires resilience and discipline. Working hours are from 06:30 to 18:30, seven days a week, during the rotation period. The candidate must be capable of handling the physical and mental demands of the offshore environment while maintaining consistent performance.

Additionally, the operator will participate in chemical dosing, sampling, process troubleshooting, and the operation of control panels or distributed control systems (DCS). A good understanding of process diagrams, instrumentation, and standard operating procedures is essential for efficiency.

The role demands strong communication skills, as coordination between departments—process, maintenance, and safety—is crucial for smooth functioning. Operators are expected to provide feedback, assist in root cause analysis for any operational upset, and contribute to process improvements.

Through this position, the candidate will gain valuable offshore exposure and experience in world-class operations, forming a foundation for further career growth in process management, plant supervision, and operations leadership.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Process Operator position at IDCMPS, candidates must meet the educational and professional requirements outlined by the company to ensure competence in handling offshore operations.

A Diploma in Chemical Engineering is preferred. However, candidates with qualifications in other engineering disciplines, such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, may also be considered if they possess relevant operational experience.

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a similar role, ideally within oil, gas, petrochemical, or process plant operations. Experience in process control, plant start-up, and shutdown procedures will be considered a strong advantage.

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in operating process control equipment, handling safety devices, and understanding process flow diagrams. The ability to interpret data, monitor trends, and take timely corrective action is critical for maintaining system integrity.

Familiarity with offshore work protocols is desirable, including knowledge of emergency evacuation, confined space entry, lockout-tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.

Apart from technical expertise, candidates are expected to have good communication and teamwork skills. Offshore environments demand cooperation, reliability, and discipline. The ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain a positive attitude under pressure will determine success in this role.

A valid medical fitness certificate will be required, confirming the candidate’s suitability for offshore work. Since the schedule involves extended periods offshore, applicants should be comfortable with rotation cycles and separation from family during duty periods.

Candidates should have basic computer literacy for data entry, logging process parameters, and preparing reports. Understanding digital control systems and instrumentation interfaces is an added advantage.

Applicants with certifications in occupational safety, process control, or first aid will be preferred. Additionally, those who can demonstrate practical experience in troubleshooting and maintenance coordination will stand out during selection.

Overall, IDCMPS seeks individuals who are technically competent, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining high operational standards. This position provides an excellent career platform for process professionals looking to expand their expertise in offshore environments.
