Job Offering Company Introduction

Carawan Electrical & Mechanical Works LLC. is a Dubai-based MEP contracting company established in 2006. Operating within the construction industry, the company has built its presence in the United Arab Emirates by delivering electrical and mechanical services across a wide range of building projects.

Headquartered in Al Qusais Second, Dubai, Carawan provides comprehensive MEP services including planning and coordination, HVAC installations, electrical lighting and power distribution systems, firefighting and fire detection systems, plumbing and drainage installations, testing and commissioning, as well as operation and maintenance services. Over the years, the company has contributed to projects in sectors such as airports, shopping malls, hotels, commercial buildings, themed developments, and fit-out projects.

The UAE construction market is highly regulated and technically demanding. MEP contractors are expected to comply with strict authority approvals, safety regulations, and international engineering standards. Carawan has sustained operations for nearly two decades in this environment, demonstrating its ability to adapt to changing building codes, technological advancements, and project scale requirements.

Electrical systems form a critical component of modern construction projects in the UAE. From high-rise towers to commercial complexes and hospitality developments, reliable power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm networks, and low-current systems are essential. These systems must comply with local authority approvals and international standards while ensuring safety, operational reliability, and efficiency.

Carawan’s service portfolio includes LV and HV installations, transformers, switchgear integration, home automation systems, CCTV installations, and fire alarm systems. The company works closely with authorities such as DEWA and Dubai Civil Defence to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth project handover.

As part of its ongoing expansion and project commitments, Carawan is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer – MEP to lead and supervise electrical activities across construction projects within the UAE. This is a leadership position requiring extensive local experience, authority coordination knowledge, and strong site supervision capabilities.

The role is intended for professionals who have spent several years working in the UAE construction sector and understand the practical, regulatory, and coordination demands of MEP project execution. Candidates must already be residing in the UAE and possess a valid UAE driving license.

This opportunity is suited for engineers who are capable of managing technical teams, resolving on-site challenges, reviewing design documents, and ensuring that installations align with approved drawings and specifications.

Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer – MEP will be responsible for overseeing all electrical engineering activities on assigned construction projects within the UAE.

One of the primary responsibilities includes reviewing, preparing, and approving electrical drawings and design submittals. This involves evaluating one-line diagrams, load calculations, distribution layouts, lighting plans, cable schedules, and low-current system drawings before submission to consultants or authorities.

The engineer will supervise electrical installation works on-site. This includes LV and HV systems, transformers, switchgears, distribution boards, busbars, power cabling, and lighting installations. Regular site monitoring is required to ensure workmanship quality and compliance with project specifications.

Coordination plays a central role in the position. The engineer will work closely with MEP teams, civil contractors, architects, and consultants to ensure smooth integration of electrical services with other building systems. Conflicts between structural and electrical layouts must be identified and resolved during project execution.

The role also requires conducting inspections and overseeing testing and commissioning activities. This includes verifying cable insulation resistance, checking earthing systems, testing lighting and emergency systems, and coordinating with testing agencies when necessary.

Compliance with UAE local regulations is mandatory. The engineer must ensure that installations meet the requirements of DEWA, Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi authorities where applicable, and Dubai Civil Defence. Approval processes, authority inspections, and documentation preparation will be part of the role.

Technical documentation and reporting are key responsibilities. The Senior Electrical Engineer will prepare progress updates, site reports, and compliance documentation. These reports support project managers in tracking deliverables and timelines.

The candidate must also assist in planning and scheduling activities. Resource allocation, manpower supervision, and material planning are part of ensuring that electrical works are completed on time.

Problem-solving is an important component of this role. When technical challenges arise on-site, the engineer must evaluate solutions, adjust installation methods if necessary, and coordinate corrective actions.

The engineer will also oversee low-current systems such as fire alarms, CCTV, and access control installations, ensuring proper integration with power and control systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP is required to review and interpret models and drawings. Electrical design software skills are also expected for calculation verification and documentation review.

Leadership and communication skills are essential. The Senior Electrical Engineer will supervise technical teams, negotiate with subcontractors, and communicate with consultants and authority representatives.

Overall, the position demands technical competence, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage electrical works across medium- to large-scale construction projects in the UAE.
