Job Description
The Senior Manager – Transmission Network will be a pivotal figure in overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of the data center’s transport and optical network infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in DWDM/OTN technologies, IP/MPLS design, fiber planning, and multi-domain capacity management. The candidate will lead strategic initiatives ensuring that the network operates at maximum reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Design and Planning:
- Prepare and review both High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) across all transport layers.
- Design and implement the overall network strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
- Create detailed implementation and migration plans for network expansions, upgrades, and new builds.
- Project and Budget Management:
- Develop project scope sheets, RFPs, BOQs, and cost forecasts for network-related projects.
- Oversee project timelines, vendor deliverables, and ensure that all milestones are achieved within budgetary limits.
- Conduct technical comparisons and analyses to ensure optimal design efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Capacity and Performance Optimization:
- Perform capacity planning, link budget analysis, and resiliency design across multi-technology domains.
- Analyze fiber loss reports and bandwidth utilization to ensure consistent network performance.
- Identify common fiber reach areas to reduce CapEx through strategic provider collaboration.
- Technical Oversight:
- Manage network expansions, configuration planning, and implementation of optical and IP-based transport systems.
- Lead multi-domain transmission planning to ensure SLA compliance for cloud, corporate, and co-location clients.
- Design and maintain redundancy mechanisms ensuring zero data loss and maximum uptime.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Mentor and guide engineers, technicians, and support staff, promoting knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.
- Build a high-performing team culture centered on collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Implement succession planning, goal setting, and performance evaluation within the department.
- Stakeholder and Vendor Coordination:
- Collaborate with internal teams (IT, Cloud, Regulatory) and external partners (vendors, carriers, and contractors).
- Maintain alignment with international carriers and regulatory bodies for compliance and operational integrity.
- Support cross-functional coordination to ensure successful integration of network and data center operations.
- Strategic and Regulatory Functions:
- Define and develop network evolution plans to align with global data center trends and future scalability needs.
- Ensure compliance with NEPRA, PTA, SBP, and SECP regulations as well as international standards.
- Participate in technical audits, risk assessments, and capacity reviews for internal and client networks.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in data center design, operations, or management.
- Proven experience in optical transport (DWDM/OTN) and IP/MPLS network design, particularly in data center environments.
- Hands-on experience with multi-domain transport planning, capacity design, and resiliency optimization.
- Strong understanding of fiber network design, link budgeting, and loss analysis.
- Experience in large-scale network implementation and vendor management across multiple domains.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in network planning and simulation tools such as OptiSystem, NetDesign, MATLAB, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong grasp of cloud transport evolution, hyperscaler connectivity, and next-generation networking concepts.
- Capable of designing and managing multi-layered optical and IP-based transmission systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards, including NEPRA, PTA, SBP, and SECP frameworks.
