Job Description

The Senior QA Engineer role at Motive is designed for professionals with 4 to 8 years of experience in software testing. Candidates will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing QA activities across multiple platforms, including web and mobile applications. The role emphasizes testing the Electronic Logging Device (ELD), ensuring functional accuracy, performance reliability, and user satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include creating detailed test plans, maintaining QA documentation, performing end-to-end testing, and breaking down features into components for verification during weekly releases. Engineers will take full ownership of QA artifacts, highlight execution gaps, propose process improvements, and review all customer-facing issues. The role requires analyzing defects, documenting inconsistencies, and ensuring that both manual and automated tests meet industry standards.

Senior QA Engineers will work closely with Product, Design, Customer Success, and engineering teams to identify potential issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective measures. The position also involves developing and executing test cases for boundary value, positive, and negative scenarios, as well as verifying REST APIs, UI features, and real-time map-based systems. Engineers are expected to participate in code reviews, understand software design specifications, and contribute to maintaining a high-quality software delivery pipeline.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a strong background in Computer Science or related fields, with 4 to 8 years of professional experience in software testing. Proficiency in both manual and automated testing is required, along with knowledge of automation frameworks, Agile methodologies, SCRUM, and the Agile Testing Life Cycle. Experience with REST APIs, UI automation, and issue tracking tools such as JIRA is highly desirable.

Applicants should be skilled in understanding software design specifications, creating test cases, and performing E2E testing. Knowledge of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and programming languages will be advantageous. Engineers must demonstrate the ability to take ownership of QA processes, maintain documentation, identify defects, and propose improvements. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and collaboration skills are essential to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
