Job Description
The State Bank of Pakistan is inviting applications for multiple contractual positions in its Information Technology Operations Department (ITOD) based primarily in Karachi, with specific roles in Hyderabad as noted. The roles available include IT Support Officer, Network Operation Center (NOC) Engineer, IT Security & Compliance Officer, and System Administrator.
The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing technical assistance across various platforms including Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android. Duties include installation, testing, configuration, and repair of IT equipment, supporting enterprise applications, managing security standards, and providing on-site and remote support to staff and executives. This role also involves assisting with special events, webinars, BCP mock exercises, and maintaining technical documentation.
The Network Operation Center (NOC) Engineers—based in Karachi and Hyderabad—monitor IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and UPS systems. Responsibilities include administering Solarwinds IT Management modules, performing end-of-day procedures for business applications, coordinating with SOC teams on security measures, managing data backups, monitoring environmental controls in data centers, managing access control, and ensuring 24×7 operational readiness. NOC Engineers also generate infrastructure reports and provide shift-based operational support as required.
The IT Security & Compliance Officer oversees IT security, compliance, and vulnerability management programs in accordance with standards such as ISO 27001, ITIL, NIST, and CIS Benchmarks. This role includes coordinating penetration testing, assisting in risk assessments, managing IT assets, supporting IT audits, preparing patch management reports, and collaborating with IT teams to maintain a secure infrastructure. Proficiency in Windows, Linux, security tools, and compliance frameworks is required.
The System Administrator is responsible for maintaining Microsoft Windows infrastructure services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and mail gateways. The role also involves administering virtualization and cloud platforms such as Hyper-V, VMware, and Azure, performing server provisioning, patching, and hardening, ensuring disaster recovery readiness, maintaining enterprise backup solutions, supporting cybersecurity assessments, and coordinating changes with internal and external stakeholders.
All positions require professionals to remain current with emerging technologies, provide proactive solutions, manage workloads efficiently, and maintain documentation and SOPs. Employees are expected to demonstrate analytical skills, technical expertise, and effective communication while contributing to the smooth operation and security of SBP’s IT systems.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the educational, experience, and age requirements specific to each role in the ITOD.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (minimum 14–16 years of education depending on the role) from HEC-recognized domestic institutions or reputable foreign universities. Fields include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, IT, Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecom Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience depending on the role. Hands-on exposure to IT support, network operations, system administration, security compliance, and enterprise applications is required. Experience with cloud technologies, virtualization, cybersecurity tools, and monitoring systems is highly desirable.
- Age: Maximum age varies between 35 and 48 years, depending on the position.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in IT troubleshooting, system and network administration, endpoint security, compliance standards, disaster recovery planning, and enterprise application support. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are mandatory. Professionals should be able to collaborate across departments, respond effectively to technical issues, and maintain operational efficiency under pressure.
