Gourmet is currently expanding its technical team and is looking for an experienced Utilities Engineer to be based at its production facility in Sundar Industrial Estate, Lahore.


2. Job Description

The Utilities Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of all utility systems that support production at the facility. This includes overseeing systems such as boilers, chillers, compressors, generators, HVAC, and other plant utility services.

The engineer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting these systems to minimize downtime and optimize performance. The role involves both preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical utility equipment used in the food and beverage manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities will include inspecting utility systems on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with operational safety and regulatory standards, and responding to mechanical or electrical faults in a timely manner. The engineer will also work closely with the maintenance team to plan and execute scheduled shutdowns, utility upgrades, and equipment installation.

In addition, the Utilities Engineer will be expected to generate regular performance and maintenance reports, maintain proper documentation, and participate in audits or inspections when required. Coordination with external vendors for parts and service contracts may also be part of the role.

3. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this role, the candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

A minimum of 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in the food and beverage industry is required. Candidates with experience managing utilities systems in other large manufacturing setups may also be considered, but industry-specific knowledge will be preferred.

The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of:

  • Utility systems including boilers, chillers, compressors, and HVAC
  • Power generation and distribution equipment
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
  • Industrial safety and regulatory compliance standards
  • Understanding of energy efficiency and cost control methods in utility operations

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work under pressure in a production-oriented environment. The candidate should be comfortable with reporting, planning, and coordinating with multiple teams.

Proficiency in MS Office, good communication skills, and the ability to work in shifts when required will be an added advantage.
