Now, to strengthen its I&C (Instrumentation and Control) engineering division, Halmore is hiring an “Assistant Engineer I&C” who has relevant experience in the power industry, particularly in Combined Cycle operations. This is a full-time, on-site position based at the Bhikki site, suitable for individuals who are committed to plant reliability, safety standards, and process control excellence.
2. Job Description
The role of Assistant Engineer I&C (Instrumentation and Control) at Halmore Power Plant involves a blend of technical responsibility, equipment troubleshooting, process control oversight, and system integrity assurance. This is a key position within the I&C maintenance team, and the selected candidate will report directly to the Lead Engineer or Manager I&C.
The Assistant Engineer I&C will be responsible for routine monitoring and maintenance of instrumentation devices across all sections of the power plant—particularly gas turbines, HRSGs (Heat Recovery Steam Generators), and steam turbines. This includes calibration of sensors, loop checks, fault diagnostics, and regular preventive maintenance activities.
A significant part of this role includes managing Distributed Control Systems (DCS), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and turbine control software. You will be working with various OEM-installed systems, ensuring real-time process data accuracy and integrity. Any anomalies in control logic, signal disruption, or instrumentation drift will require immediate investigation and resolution.
As part of the I&C team, you’ll support major shutdowns and startup procedures. This includes ensuring safe de-energization, signal isolation, and testing of safety interlocks and control loops. The role demands familiarity with instrumentation drawings, logic diagrams, and functional description documents. You’ll be expected to follow proper work permit protocols, plant safety procedures, and NEPRA/ISO documentation requirements.
The Assistant Engineer I&C will also be involved in:
- Maintenance of transmitters, control valves, positioners, limit switches, and analyzers
- Diagnosis of control faults using multimeters, HART communicators, and handheld calibrators
- Configuration and minor programming updates to PLC systems (Siemens, GE, etc.)
- Coordination with OEMs and third-party contractors for technical assistance
- Participation in root cause analysis (RCA) for any repeated faults or incidents
Regular reporting is also a key component. The selected candidate will document all daily activities, prepare preventive maintenance reports, assist in spares planning, and ensure record-keeping in line with the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). A working understanding of modern I&C standards such as ISA, IEEE, IEC, and safety protocols such as LOTO (Lockout Tagout) is expected.

3. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the role of Assistant Engineer I&C at Halmore Power Plant, candidates must fulfill a combination of academic, experiential, and technical criteria.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BE) in Electronics or Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
- The degree must be from a HEC and PEC-recognized institution.
- Additional certifications in instrumentation, automation, or safety practices (such as NEBOSH, ISA, or PLC programming) will be considered an advantage.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the power generation sector is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience at a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP).
- Must have a proven track record in working with modern control systems, instrumentation calibration, and fault diagnosis.
Technical Competence:
- Strong understanding of instrumentation fundamentals including level, pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.
- Working knowledge of DCS and PLC systems used in power plants (Siemens, GE, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, control loop diagrams, wiring drawings, and ladder logic.
- Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate instruments using HART communicators, Fluke calibrators, and other standard tools.
- Understanding of safety interlock systems and BMS (Burner Management System).
Skills and Abilities:
- Should be comfortable working in high-temperature, industrial settings.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies, trip conditions, and shutdowns with clear protocols.
- Familiar with CMMS, plant maintenance logs, and reporting tools.
- Should have good interpersonal communication skills, especially for coordination with other departments like operations and mechanical maintenance.
- Should possess basic knowledge of IT tools (MS Office, maintenance software, etc.) for reporting and data analysis.

- Willingness to relocate or commute to Bhikki site daily.
- Able to work under pressure, during shutdowns and trip recovery.
