Job Description
The Officer Electrical position at Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics Limited is designed for individuals with a solid background in industrial electronics and automation. The primary responsibility of the selected candidate will be to ensure the smooth functioning of electrical and electronic systems used in manufacturing operations. From troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to repairing variable frequency drives (VFDs) and diagnosing PCB-level faults, this role encompasses a wide range of tasks that require precision, problem-solving skills, and technical insight.
One of the key areas of responsibility is PLC troubleshooting and repair. STCL utilizes advanced automation in its tile manufacturing processes, including PLC systems from reputable brands such as Omron and Siemens. The Officer Electrical will be responsible for identifying and rectifying faults within these control systems to prevent production downtime. This includes interpreting electrical schematics, checking logic programming, and verifying sensor inputs and actuator outputs.
Another important function is managing VFDs and AC/DC drives. These components are critical in controlling motor speed and torque during various stages of the production process. The candidate will work with VFD brands such as Yaskawa and IVT, ensuring they are functioning correctly, performing at their designed parameters, and responding appropriately to production load variations. Calibration, fault code interpretation, and preventive maintenance are all part of this role.
Moreover, repairing and diagnosing electronic control boards is an integral aspect of this job. The Officer Electrical will handle the repair and maintenance of electronic circuit boards, UPS systems, SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supplies), and industrial battery chargers. The candidate is expected to work at a PCB level, using diagnostic tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators to locate and fix faults. This work demands strong soldering skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
The candidate will also work with control and monitoring systems used across the plant. Ensuring that sensors, actuators, and relay circuits are functional and calibrated is part of ensuring efficient and uninterrupted manufacturing. The role requires familiarity with control loops, signal converters, and industrial communication protocols.
In addition to routine maintenance, the candidate will contribute to preventive maintenance plans, identifying components or systems that may be approaching failure and replacing them proactively. This will help reduce unplanned downtime and ensure operational reliability.
The role is also expected to interface with the production and maintenance teams, helping coordinate repairs and communicating system status effectively. Documentation and record-keeping are important parts of the job, and the Officer Electrical will be expected to maintain detailed logs of repairs, parts replaced, and system performance over time.
Furthermore, safety and compliance are critical in all technical roles at STCL. The candidate must adhere to electrical safety standards, ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed during repairs, and comply with the company’s safety and environmental policies. Understanding NOC (No Objection Certificate) requirements, hazard identification, and emergency response protocols will also be part of the training and job responsibilities.
The selected individual will also be required to support the installation of new equipment, collaborating with vendors or internal engineers to ensure proper setup, configuration, and testing. During production expansions or technology upgrades, the Officer Electrical may be asked to assist in commissioning new machines or retrofitting existing systems with new control modules.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with industrial systems, solving real-world technical issues, and making a tangible impact on the plant’s productivity. The job offers exposure to diverse electrical and electronic technologies, making it a strong foundation for future career growth in industrial automation, electrical engineering, and plant maintenance.
Eligibility Criteria
The position of Officer Electrical at Shabbir Tiles & Ceramics Limited requires a solid educational and technical background in industrial electronics or related fields. The ideal candidate should hold at least a Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or a B.Tech degree in Electronics. This educational foundation ensures the individual has a strong grasp of circuit theory, electronics fundamentals, control systems, and instrumentation.
Experience in industrial electronic repair is a significant advantage. Although fresh candidates with strong technical knowledge may be considered, preference will be given to individuals who have hands-on experience in an industrial setting. Candidates with experience working in factories, manufacturing plants, or engineering workshops where they were involved in repairing and maintaining electronic systems will have an edge.
The company is looking for someone with a strong command of PLC troubleshooting and VFD operations. Knowledge of Siemens and Omron PLCs is particularly valuable. The ideal candidate should be able to interpret ladder logic diagrams, diagnose input/output errors, and modify basic program functions if required.
Familiarity with VFDs from brands like Yaskawa, IVT, ABB, or Delta is highly preferred. Understanding how to interpret error codes, perform drive resets, change drive parameters, and ensure integration with motors and sensors is essential.
PCB-level troubleshooting skills are a core requirement for this role. The candidate should have a keen eye for identifying damaged components, such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and ICs. The ability to safely remove and replace components using soldering/desoldering techniques is critical. Prior experience repairing UPS, SMPS, battery chargers, or industrial electronic modules will demonstrate the necessary skill set.
The candidate must also be proficient in using diagnostic and measurement tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, and infrared thermometers. These tools are crucial for performing accurate diagnostics and ensuring systems function according to specifications.
Strong soldering and component handling skills are required. Whether it’s working with through-hole or surface-mount components, the candidate must demonstrate clean, reliable, and efficient repair techniques.
Additionally, a solid understanding of control systems is expected. The candidate should know how relays, contactors, timers, and analog/digital signals interact within an industrial control panel. Understanding industrial safety protocols, including grounding, overcurrent protection, and isolation, is also necessary.
Soft skills are equally important. The ideal candidate should possess good communication skills to interact with team members, production staff, and supervisors. They must be able to write clear reports, update maintenance logs, and explain technical issues in an understandable way.
The company encourages applications from candidates who are immediate joiners, as this reflects both availability and eagerness to start contributing to the team. Candidates who live in or near Karachi, particularly around Port Qasim, will be prioritized due to the location-specific nature of the job.
STCL values team players—people who are not only good at what they do but also willing to share their knowledge, train others when required, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
Candidates with certifications in industrial automation, electronics repair, or safety compliance will be viewed favorably. Although not mandatory, such certifications demonstrate a proactive approach to skill development and professional growth.
Finally, the ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and understands the importance of keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. This role offers a chance to apply practical electronics skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment while learning from a team of experienced professionals.
