Job description

Energy Solutions (Pvt.) Limited is currently seeking Trainee Sales Engineers in the fields of Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical engineering. These full-time positions are based at ESL’s Karachi office and are tailored for fresh graduates who are eager to step into the power generation sector and grow through hands-on learning and field exposure.

In this role, you will work in close proximity with senior sales professionals to understand the technical and commercial aspects of the energy solutions market. You will support business development by assisting in customer interactions, proposal preparation, and project scoping. You will also accompany senior staff on visits to customer premises to gather requirements for diesel generators, gas generators, and solar energy systems. You’ll attend meetings with clients to understand their energy needs, from load capacity, environmental considerations, to redundancy planning.

You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of an energy project—from initial discussions to quoting, bidding, technical clarifications, and closing deals. Your support could involve tailoring proposals based on site requirements, load calculations, equipment selection, and generating quotes in collaboration with the commercial team.

Beyond quotes, you’ll learn how ESL handles project commissioning, synchronizing setups, and operation and maintenance services. You’ll observe installation procedures, learning how synchronizing generators with utility systems or configuring backup power is done safely. You’ll also get familiar with service contracts, maintenance scheduling, and how ESL ensures uptime through swift after-sales response.

Field assignments will bring you face-to-face with generators of different capacities, solar EPC sites, project handovers, and synchronizing operations. You’ll understand how to size systems, determine fuel requirements, and support load-sharing units. Understanding the interplay between technical components and commercial needs will enhance your understanding of power solutions in real-life environments.

You’ll aid in preparing client presentations that explain technology, pricing, and value. Maintaining professionalism and clarity while addressing client questions is critical.

At the same time, you’ll support marketing with content generation—case studies, project snippets, and technical product brochures. Creating promotional materials helps build your ability to translate technical content into client-accessible formats.

Throughout, you’ll document your observations in CRM systems, prepare reports, log client discussions, and track follow-up actions. Familiarity with inquiries through digital tools or Excel becomes essential.

Career progression includes stepping into project support roles—supporting a site handover or tracking project milestones. The more you engage in real situations, the clearer your path in technical sales or project management becomes.

The Trainee role may span 6 to 12 months, preparing you for the next role: Assistant, Deputy, or Manager – Sales Engineer (Busways). In advanced positions, you’ll handle clients directly, manage pipelines, negotiate contracts, and lead projects in power distribution (busway systems).

Through mentorship and fieldwork, you’ll build credible foundations in both technical energy systems and client relationships, positioning you to advance within ESL’s team of solution-driven professionals.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for the Trainee Sales Engineer role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

You must be a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Graduating not earlier than two years ago is preferred, keeping the role fresh and focused on development.

You should demonstrate curiosity about industrial power systems—fuel-based generators, solar installations, load sharing, and backup power configurations. Academics are valued, but so is your willingness to learn field operations, generator configurations, and solar sizing.

Strong communication skills are essential; you’ll engage in client presentations, team collaborations, and technical documentation. Speaking clearly, asking questions, and articulating ideas confidently will help your performance as a trainee.

You should also be comfortable with basic engineering tools—like Excel and PowerPoint—and show eagerness to learn CRM tools used for sales tracking and customer interactions. Familiarity with these tools adds efficiency.

Willingness to work in Karachi and travel as needed is a must. You may join service or commissioning teams during visits to client locations or project sites—flexibility for varied hours and on-your-feet learning matters.

Being proactive and organized is key. As a trainee, you are expected to assist senior staff, follow up promptly, and take ownership of assigned tasks. Punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail go a long way.
