Job Description

The Foreman – Electrical plays a pivotal role in ensuring that substation site activities are executed according to project specifications, timelines, and safety standards. This position requires a professional with hands-on experience in supervising substation construction and maintenance tasks, particularly within the 110KV or 380KV range.

As part of the site execution team, the selected individual will coordinate between engineers, supervisors, and technicians to ensure smooth workflow, compliance with the design plan, and adherence to quality standards. The Foreman will also be responsible for directing the site’s manpower, ensuring safety, and maintaining discipline in day-to-day site operations.

This is a highly practical and leadership-oriented position that demands both technical expertise and field experience in managing substation activities. The foreman will work closely with the Site Manager and other project stakeholders to deliver the assigned project safely, on time, and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and manage all electrical activities at the substation site in line with the approved construction schedule and quality standards.
Coordinate with engineers and project management teams to ensure the timely execution of installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Lead and manage direct manpower, including electricians, fitters, and subcontracted labor, to achieve project milestones.
Ensure all site work adheres to safety, health, and environmental (EHS) regulations.
Interpret and implement project drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documents.
Maintain accurate site records, daily logs, and reports for project progress and resource utilization.
Troubleshoot site issues and provide technical guidance to the workforce.
Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are used efficiently and safely.
Participate in inspections, testing, and commissioning activities under the guidance of engineers and quality teams.
Maintain coordination between electrical and civil teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Ensure compliance with ISO, IEC, and SASO standards applicable to high-voltage substations.
Support the Site Manager in manpower planning, work scheduling, and progress tracking.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and safety awareness among the workforce.
Maintain site discipline, ensure worksite cleanliness, and report non-conformities immediately.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

Diploma in Electrical Engineering (D.A.E.) or equivalent technical qualification.
Candidates with a High School Diploma and extensive practical experience will also be considered.

Experience:

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in substation projects, specifically in 110KV or 380KV systems.
Proven ability to supervise substation construction, installation, and testing activities.
Hands-on experience in electrical equipment installation, cable routing, termination, and grounding systems.
Strong technical understanding of transformers, switchgears, control panels, bus bars, and circuit breakers used in substation environments.
Familiarity with safety procedures and electrical codes relevant to high-voltage work.
Must have demonstrated success in managing manpower and ensuring compliance with engineering and safety standards.
